QuoteI like the bleakness and isolation of the film. And the acting was excellent and the relationships made sense and were natural.

I agree with this part, definitely.

QuoteSlumdog Millionaire-one of the best movies I have seen in a long, long time. It has it all...

We've got a sitter for our boys and me and the wife are going to see this tonight.  I've heard from multiple people how good it is and we are both pretty excited!
crazylove said she wanted to watch it again immediately right after.  :)

It was as good as we thought it would be, and more.  I loved how the director kept it moving throughout.  It made for a strange, sort of feel good movie with intense drama combo?!?!?!

That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Just watched National Treasure - I bought it for about $3.  It's either a biting satire and devastating pastiche of Indiana/Tombraider/Da Vinci or the biggest pile of steaming poo ever made.  I honestly haven't laughed so much for months!
The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side

Nick Cage is pretty laughable in that with his plasticy looking face and hair. He's worse in the sequel. He's just awful.

I thought the first NT was entertaining enough for a PG rated box office blockbuster

NT 2 was pretty hard to watch though

Eden Lake - Wow! Best horror I've seen in a long time, long time.

To be honest, it would be lazy to categorize this as a horror...it's more of a thriller/social observation...with horrific results (I can't count how many times my jaw hit the floor!)
Flawed (what (horror) movie isn't these days?) but forget Dog Soldiers & The Descent...this is the best British horror movie in a long, long time...

Fucking Wow!

hmmmm. Might have to try to check this out. I remember liking the trailer. I agree with you, it was more suspense/thriller then actual horror.

Yeah horror seems to fall into 2 categories these days - scary horror (good ones are few & far between) & gross/shock horror (films like Saw etc) This one definitely falls into the latter...it's not for the faint hearted!

I can't stop thinking about this movie!

I saw Slumdog last night. I liked it, I wasn't blown away by it though. It reminded of City Of God.

The 5 Obstructions.

Rented it on suggestion from a friend, and after it was over and went to the computer and bought a copy for myself.  Brilliant film. :)

Watched Ratcatcher today.  It was fantastic.

I love that movie!  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I was saddened to learn that the director Lynne Ramsay doesn't have the money to make any more films...

Slumdog Millionaire was perfect.  I forgot how powerful of a filmmaker Danny Boyle is - always loved his visual style.  Damn was it ever great.

Just watched Taken illegally on my computer, and damn, that was a thrill ride. Despite it seeming like one of those "1 and done" movies, I could def watch it again. I cant think of any movie really all that much like it. It reminded me of Frantic with Harrison Ford at first, but then it brings in Hostel-esque elements combined with pure action movie stuff.

I really dont see how you couldnt like this. Anyone who didnt think Neeson could pull this role off hasnt seen Rob Roy.

On a side note, I actually thought this came out like 2 weeks ago. Seems like theyve been airing previews since before Christmas and I was certain it had been in theaters for a bit, then I find out today it was actually released 6 months or so ago in Europe. I cant think of any semi-major english movie that wasnt released in the USA first/at the same time  :-?
