QuoteThe ending was like a band-aid on a massive gaping head wound.
The massive head wound was there to make the triumph of them finding each other even more uplifting...

Just watched RocknRolla.. Pretty good movie.. For one of those light hearted crime drama types.. Up there with Snatch in my book..

Gotta see this one still...I heard its not as good as Snatch or Lock Stock before this, but Ive decided not to take too many people's opinions to heart.

..but its "light hearted"?!...were Snatch and Lock Stock "light hearted"?

IMO thats a definite No.

I just mean it's a crime drama but with goofy characters and quirky one liners.. It's not on a scale with Goodfellas but more of a Ace ventura type.. No i'm kidding it's a good one..

I would say Snatch and Lock Stock are lighthearted. I laugh through them.

Yeah, that makes sense. I didnt really think about it like that, although most of those laughs come from the stupidity of the characters.

Man on Wire - fascinating, inspiring and uplifting.

QuoteI bought Religulous because you can't rent it here.(rural South Central Ky.)
It was clever and definitely worth the purchase price.

Yeah, good flick.  I was dying laughing in the theater all the way through.
Crazy you can't rent it.  Forgive my ignorance but is it because of limited space in the store or for religious and moral objections?

No Netflix or BBuster online for you?

QuoteRecently watched:

Liked Rescue Dawn a lot. I've notcied a few Herzog fans here, what should I see next? I'm not certain how easy it is to find his movies around here, I usually notice Grizzly Man when looking at DVD's.

I wasn't a big fan of Grizzly Man but maybe its because I didn't like the "Grizzley Man."  My personal favorite has to be his recent  Encounters at the End of the World.  I've only seen 5 of his films though and I am thoroughly infatuated with Antarctica so...

QuoteI have always wanted to see True Romance since it was written by Tarrantino, but I thought that it might be ruined by Tony Scott's direction. Good to know that's not the case. Sleepers and Kalifornia were totally off my radar, but I'll check those out too.

Highly recommend both Sleepers and Kalifornia

Watch Sleepers some night you want to watch a serious drama. Its got an outstanding cast too - Kevin Bacon, Robert DeNiro, Dustin Hoffman, Jason Patric, Brad Pitt, Minnie Driver, Billy Crudup, Brad Renfro.

Watch Kalifornia whenever youre in the mood for a fun thriller and are kicking back drinking some Reebs  [smiley=beer.gif]
True Romance is good fun. I loved it when I first saw it but it doesn't stand up so well after repeated viewings.

Long time since I saw them but I remember being disappointed by Sleepers & Kalifornia.

Well for Kalifornia, I think Pitt's performance carries it - eventhough Duchovny and Lewis are good too. As pretty much a pure suspense/thriller movie, I think it succeeds in doing that with flying colors.

Sleepers I thought was just great all around. Unlike a lot of movies, the story really feels true and I think all of the actors further it and make it more powerful. It feels like youre watching the actual people and not actors. I loved the direction and scenery as well. If you look at how 5 minutes and 1 event shaped these 4 people's lives, and each of them differently, I found that made the story even more compelling and brilliant. Maybe check it out again??

I dont think Ive seen True Romance enough to comment on the rewatchability, but it seems to me like it would have that. Moves along fast enough, has a great cast, and you have 2 of the best scenes ever - the Walken/Hopper Sicily dialogue, and the Tony Soprano/Arquette fisticuffs.

Sleepers = Great
True Romance = Great
Kalifornia = OK - NO SUCH THING AS A GOOD PERFORMANCE FROM JULIETTE LEWIS

Duder - have you seen the movie?? she plays an unintelligent piece of trailer trash who acts like shes still a 12 year old girl. She was perfect.

And she was also great playing the retard in The Other Sister and the psycho bitch in Natural Born Killers because she actually has traits of all 3 of these characters.

Other than those, then no good performances.

Bad actress and now fronting an even worse rock band: Juliette Lewis and The Licks.

Sure, but the attention to detail in probing every aspect of the head wound was gratuitous at best.
