QuoteI have always wanted to see True Romance since it was written by Tarrantino, but I thought that it might be ruined by Tony Scott's direction. Good to know that's not the case. Sleepers and Kalifornia were totally off my radar, but I'll check those out too.

Highly recommend both Sleepers and Kalifornia

Watch Sleepers some night you want to watch a serious drama. Its got an outstanding cast too - Kevin Bacon, Robert DeNiro, Dustin Hoffman, Jason Patric, Brad Pitt, Minnie Driver, Billy Crudup, Brad Renfro.

Watch Kalifornia whenever youre in the mood for a fun thriller and are kicking back drinking some Reebs  [smiley=beer.gif]
True Romance is good fun. I loved it when I first saw it but it doesn't stand up so well after repeated viewings.

Long time since I saw them but I remember being disappointed by Sleepers & Kalifornia.

Well for Kalifornia, I think Pitt's performance carries it - eventhough Duchovny and Lewis are good too. As pretty much a pure suspense/thriller movie, I think it succeeds in doing that with flying colors.

Sleepers I thought was just great all around. Unlike a lot of movies, the story really feels true and I think all of the actors further it and make it more powerful. It feels like youre watching the actual people and not actors. I loved the direction and scenery as well. If you look at how 5 minutes and 1 event shaped these 4 people's lives, and each of them differently, I found that made the story even more compelling and brilliant. Maybe check it out again??

I dont think Ive seen True Romance enough to comment on the rewatchability, but it seems to me like it would have that. Moves along fast enough, has a great cast, and you have 2 of the best scenes ever - the Walken/Hopper Sicily dialogue, and the Tony Soprano/Arquette fisticuffs.

Sleepers = Great
True Romance = Great
Kalifornia = OK - NO SUCH THING AS A GOOD PERFORMANCE FROM JULIETTE LEWIS

Duder - have you seen the movie?? she plays an unintelligent piece of trailer trash who acts like shes still a 12 year old girl. She was perfect.

And she was also great playing the retard in The Other Sister and the psycho bitch in Natural Born Killers because she actually has traits of all 3 of these characters.

Other than those, then no good performances.

they are all the same role....and she's not acting (lol) i agree. she's awful---even in cape fear...something about her acting.

yes, shes a bad actress but just like you said, in those roles she doesnt need to act because in real life she's a semi-retarded redneck who probably trims her pubes with a bowie knife, eats snack packs everyday, and secretly enjoys beastiality.

which is why she was awesome in those roles  :D

Have you ever seen Masked and Anonymous? Bob actually co-wrote the script to that one and he stars in it too. Much better movie IMO.

I should also tell you (though you might already know this) that he wrote the soundtrack and played a small role (and did a good job, in my opinion) in a great movie called Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. It's where Knockin' On Heaven's Door is originally from.

There's also Renaldo and Clara which he wrote, acted, and directed.

Garden State, again.
Great movie, definitly a lot better than Zach Braff's other movie "The Last Kiss", and, as already mentioned somewhere, amazing soundtrack.

I actually liked Last Kiss a lot, and I rarely make it through a romantic comedy on the even more rare occasion I actually watch one.

Garden State was better though

Last Kiss is good too, but I find it less outstanding than Garden State.
The characters on Garden State are way deeper, Natalie Portman's character is way better than any female one on Last Kiss. Same goes for the jokes and for Zach Braff's role, if I didn't know better, I'd say Garden State would be the follow up to Last Kiss, in terms of how much more developed the whole movie seems to me.

My most recent movie was "W"; wow! It was more biased than people told me it was (although I don't care because I'm of the same bias  ;D), but it was still eye-opening and really well done. Strange how at the end I almost felt sorry for the guy and his 'poppy' but then again, he really lost the ball.

I really want to see "W". Good to know it's out on DVD.

I just saw the new Friday the 13th.

It was pretty much the same as the old movies except the kids don't have big hair.

I did see Changling (Eastwood) and that was entertaining. Clint never misses.

Gran Torino isn't a miss, that's for sure.

The thing with Tornino is Clint is the only really good actor. Everybody else pales in comparison. The story is kind of goofy, but it is worth the watch just to see Clint being a grumpy racist old man the whole movie. It's like Dirty Harry 6.

I also thought Flags of Our Fathers was below his standards as well. Maybe it's just because he released Letter from Iwo Jima at the same time and that was beautiful.

Yeah, it definitely isn't a miss. I very much admired what Eastwood was trying to say. Though, every actor besides Eastwood got on my nerves with their so so and no no acting abilities. I thought the story was wonderful. If it wasn't for the story and Clint, I wouldn't have teared up at the end and left the theater with a little something.

That little kid that becomes his helper may be the worst actor alive. The dog did a better job then him.
