Thanks g33ta   I was worried about his pill consumption after the sprained ankle.  Hopefully they have something in the tank for this odd show after philly and before DC in a seated theater.

This will be the first time for me seeing the new songs but I, as you, hope that they reach into the back catalog some more.

that sounds amazing. CANT WAIT to travel to nashville for MMJ and Deer Tick in one weekend!

on a side note, I watch this video over and over to laugh at John saying "you're welcome" and then goldsmith and vasquez just sigh.

Kind of funny that John was so out of it for your show, because he was stone cold sober for the show in philly last night.

The show was a school sponsored event for students at UPenn. It was held in a beautiful auditorium at the Penn Museum, so no beer or other goodies at this show. There was an opening band that seemed to cater to the kids there... poppy rock and all their songs followed the same basic format. Mid tempo, power chords, some harmonies, quiet piano part, build up, then singing the chorus again. Every. Single. Song.

Anyway, deer tick missed out on them because they were stuck on traffic, were forced to basically do soundcheck in front of everyone, and John made a comment about being "sober and miserable". Despite that, it really was a good show. Played a whole bunch of the new stuff, including Dennis' song. About halfway through the show a roadie came out with about a half dozen red solo cup of beer, John seemed to perk up. They came out for an encore of Nirvana's "On a Plain" and "La Bamba".

It's all a bit hazy but we all had a great f'in time at the Tick show in York.  The venue was great, they all sounded great and McCauley's ankle seemed fine.  Talked to him before the show and he looked as burnt out as ever.  Interestingly enough, it was a seated GA show but there was a small pit up front that held about 3 rows deep.  The show concluded with many people getting on stage and singing Let's All Go to the Bar and other stuff.  John passed his guitar into the crowd so we could strum it yada yada great drunk fun for me.

Also, there was this guy wearing a Mexican wrestler's mask and cheesehead who I was kiddingly messing with because he didn't really seem to be a Packer fan and me being a Bears supporter, I couldn't resist.  It wasn't Halloween anything, just a dude seeking some attention.  Well after the show, while I was waiting outside for my girlfriend and friend who were using the bathroom, the same dude came up to me and said, "Hey you want my hat?"  I said sure, took his cheese head and chucked into the middle of the road.  He ran out to the middle of the road, got his block of cheese and told me how uncool that was.  Hey Cheeseheads!  Stop offering your cheese to Bears fans ;D  I was going to go get it BTW.. ::)

The new songs sounded OK but they really mixed it up so I never was too bothered by them.  I went to the bar during Chevy Express and the bartender poured me another triple shot of vodka (filled up a low ball to the top I swear).  I don't remember the exact order of songs after that.  They did B'more Blues, Easy, Ashamed and an acapella Dirty Dishes after my girlfriend obnoxiously screamed for it between songs for 3 consecutive songs.

I mean the new songs are OK but besides Clownin' Around, I'm not sure I would have enjoyed it as much had it not been for the all day celebration of distilled potatoes.  My girlfriend definitely was onstage ::) :bath:

Any of you MMJ / tickheads near knoxville want a free pair of deertick-ets to tomorrow nights show @ buckhead theatre? Bought 'em and can't go .... If you take them just to sell down there , then a curse of a thousand nickelbacks on you.

Brother Beck

Anyone on here order one of the deluxe preorder packages for Divine Providence?  I am wondering what the song is that you get on the CD single?  It says "brand new unreleased track".

I really like the new CD, but I think track 11 Electric is a huge dud that kills the flow of the album.  I like these guys a lot and, being from MA, I love the fact that they are local(ish) - but dropping $50 or $100 for one song that may or may not be any good is not something I'm gonna do right now.

I ordered the tickhead package.  The digital download I got was the same as the leaked version I had with only the Mr. Cigarette hidden track at the end of Miss K.  You say it's a CD single?  Anyways, if it is included in the CD when I get it, I'll happily send it your way if you haven't gotten it by then.

Thanks Ruckus.  I was just going by what it looked like on their website, and when you read through the package it sounds like you're going to be getting a physical CD single in there too.  But it is entirely possible I am just reading it wrong.

I read it that way too Brother Beck so we shall see.   It might be "Born at Zero" which is a song they've played a bit over the past year but didn't make the album.  If you watch the "making of" video clip further up in this thread it is in there, so they definitely recorded it!

ironmike

I still don't know how born at zero didn't make this album...I read somewhere aboute another b side coming out....I want to say it is called circles or something?

ironmike

My bad its called walls not circles
