Sounds like a plan Chris! I'll actually be outside the city in Glenside, and either staying over Friday night, or coming back Saturday. Either way, I won't be far from Philly, and we'll definitely have to meet up that Saturday some time.    I'll keep you posted, and looking forward to a Grakers.

Fantastic, looking forward to a Grakers or three, my friend!  :cheesy:

  The Keswick Theater in Glenside and Ortlieb's are only 15 or so miles apart, and about a 1/2 an hour, so it's definitely on!

I'll be seeing Steve Hackett, and a few of us are having a meet up with him. I'm just not sure if that's going to be pre or post show. Last time it was both. Once I find  out the time, I'll let you know, and we'll figure something out. Are you staying in Philly Saturday night after your show?

Steve Hackett, awesome! I am staying in Philly that night, so whichever way works for you, and it is on.

That's great man. I'll be in touch as soon as I know our meet up with Steve plans. It'll probably be close to the show date, but at least we have the option of pre/post show to grab those Grakers!     Looking forward to it.

I've been getting into Springsteen heavy over the past few months.  I really think Jim gushing about him had something to do with it.  I took out Springsteen and E Street Band Live: 1975-1985 from the library last week and have been bumping that in my car ever since.   With this unseasonably warm weather the past few days, windows down cruising has been ever better.  Gotta make it to a show one of these days

Way to go Murph!

Born To Run is always a good cruising album  too. So is Darkness, and The River, and......ahhh hell, might as well just start at the beginning with Greetings, and then one of my all time faves  in The Wild, Innocent, and E St.Shuffle. Although that one is more of a party type, hanging with your lady type of album for me. It's cool for cruising too, but I'd rather be hanging out for that one if you coach my drift.

Nothing on the horizon as far as any US tour dates, but rumor is there's another album in the works, and combined with Bruce loving to tour, I think we'll see some shows in 2014. I'll be sure to keep the board posted as soon as I hear anything official. You should definitely check out a show if you can.

Yea, I mean I was always relatively a fan.  Obviously, Born To Run is a classic album.  The only other two albums I owned though were Darkness and Wild, Innocent.  Both of which I love, so its weird that I just now am starting to really dig deeper.  You're right though, WIESS has always felt like a raucous, party type album.  It's always felt like a live album to me.  I think it was the 40th anniversary of that album this week.  As far as shows go, I imagine its damn near impossible to get general public on sale tickets.  Does he have some sort of lottery system like Pearl Jam or what?

Actually Murph, while some shows can be a tough ticket, others aren't all that hard to get. Stadium shows aren't all that tough while arenas such as MSG are really hard tix to score. It really depends on the city, how often he comes through there, week day vs weekend, and are there other shows in cities close by.

He does have a lottery, but not for purchasing tix. His lottery is for people who score ga tix. He has two ga areas, a front "pit' and then the rest of the floor behind that. His lottery is for that front pit. The procedure to try for that is you show up to the venue in the afternoon between posted times. Usually around 1:00- 4:00/4:30 and you get a numbered wristband. At around 4:30-5:00 they have a drawing and the number picked is the first one let in, and then they line people up in consecutive order. It depends on venue fire codes, but indoor arenas usually have 350-500 people in the pit. If the # drawn is say 200, then they go in first, a followed by 201, 202, etc, until they hit the max number allowed. 199 would be the last person in.

He does this in the US to give everyone an even shot at the pit, while also eliminating people lining up hours, or even days in advance. It isn't first come first served.

When the next tour is announced, give me a shout about what show your interested in, and if you want  ga and to try for the pit, I'll get the ga/lottery info for you once that show's info is released.  Your best bet for scoring tix at the onsale,IMO is pretty much the same as any other band. I am usually on the phone as well as online with fingers crossed, and hoping one of those comes though.

That's pretty cool the way he does that. It seems to be as fair as possible.  Thanks for all the info though.

Yeah Murph, it is. It can be nerve wracking though. I'm usually a reserved seat kind of guy, but the few times I did ga, I made in into the pit twice out of 5-6 tries. Once the lottery # is drawn, you have to lineup right then, with no leaving the line. It can be a bit of a wait sometimes, but then other times they take you into the lobby, or outside concourse of the arena, and you can get to hear the Soundcheck. Once the Soundcheck is done, they walk you slowly in order onto the floor. This is usually done by 6:30 or so, so you still have a two hour wait for the show to start. It's well worth the wait though if you're in  that pit, no question!  the energy is amazing, and really where you want to be,IMO.

The times I didn't get in the pit,I either went back to the hotel, bar, or went for dinner, and went in just before doors like I would if I  had a reserved seat. Went to hang by the soundboard where there was more room, as that back floor can get pretty crowded too.

The only way I would hang around if I missed the pit would be if my number was close enough to be the first ones let in after the pit, and I could get on the 2nd rail. That's a prime spot as well. Bruce comes back there often, and there's usually a platform there for him too. Unfortunately, the times I didn't make the pit I was no where near being able to get that spot.

Did anyone see the "Springsteen and I" film in theaters earlier this week?  If so, what did you think?  I'm trying to figure out whether or not to go next week.

The Springsteen and I doc is on Showtime tonight at 9:00 pm Eastern.

Thanks to Sassbox for the heads up.

So glad I had that on dvr, and could fast forward so I  didn't have to sit through the whole thing. Not exactly a must see,IMO. Kinda cheesy, and definitely a bit creepy at points.

A documentary about fans, with fans submitting their thoughts, feelings, experiences, etc. It seemed a bit disjointed to me with nothing really tying it all together. Just mostly a bunch of self submitted recordings strung together. There were a couple of good parts, but for the most part I didn't like it.

I'd imagine anyone who's not a big Bruce fan would have no interest in seeing this, and even a lot of big fans will be turned off by it. Selfishly, I don't need to see or hear some of these people's take on Bruce's impact on their lives. Especially the really creepy ones.  It would be one thing if it highlighted his generosity, or some of his philanthropic endeavors, but that's not what this movie is at all.

Pro shot video released from the Leeds show in July. Definitely a song on my bucket list, and glad he played it for the first time in over a decade, and released it too.

Yeah I was a bit confused there myself, and went searching for a head scratching smiley.    I thought I posted a bunk link, but it works for me, so I guess we'll have to wait, and see if harmonica comes back, and fills us in on what that was all about.
