That right there is another reason why this band is so awesome and special.  Keep getting better and stronger!

Hang in there John and thanks for sharing!

Great to see you're home, and doing better. John.  sucks about the recent setback but glad to see you kicked the shit out of that too!

Continued good vibes coming your way, and no doubt you'll be enjoying OBH as you planned.

Helluva cool gift box you got there too! Much deserved, and thanks for posting, and sharing.

So sorry to hear that you're going through this ordeal JY, but it is awesome that you are recovering. A lotta people care about you, and it is so awesome that the very band that brought us all together cares about you too! All the best this holiday season. Wishing you a speedy recovery and great health in 2015!

As always, thanks for the kindness, my MMJ family!  I just can't find it in me to scour the entire forum right now, but hope to be back in full swing soon.  I keep learning about the weeks following my surgery, when I was on a heart/lung machine, and its clear I'm lucky to be alive.  I'm not a religious man, but do believe that your support had a hand in my recovery.

Enough about me!  Let's retire this thread and get back to speculating on the next My Morning Jacket album and what Jim's wearing these days!

I hate having to revive this thread, but thought the Forum faithful should know that complications from last year's open-heart surgery, with all the drama and brush with death, just got more complicated.

I was having testing to get cleared to have my ileostomy reversed.  Instead, it was revealed that the metal stent placed in my left coronary artery last year has fractured and is experiencing an overgrowth of cells, called stenosis.  It is about 65% blocked, which also explains why I was starting to get out of breath more easily recently.

Therefore, I'm having coronary bypass surgery on Monday, Oct. 5th.

The surgeon (not the same guy who did last year's procedure) will divert an existing artery, the left interior mammary artery (LIMA) from my ribcage to a place along the left coronary artery after the blockage.  This is another open-heart procedure, though barring any complications, I should be home within 1 or 2 weeks.

I'll try to let you know I lived through this one as soon as I am able, but would appreciate some positive vibes from this fine collection of folks.  I've arranged for some support keeping up with setlists, poster art, and taping links while I am out of commission, so hopefully that info will still be added in a timely manner.

For those lucky enough to be attending shows during the remainder of 2015, enjoy!  I look forward to reports from the road.  MMJ will be a big part of my recovery.

Love you all,

John
