anyone else feel like the pit was WAY oversold?

Haha. It's MPP!! They do it all the time for bands, and the last three times Jacket played there it was like that. I don't remember it being oversold in 10 for the Kentucky Derby show but it was still crowded that day.

Honestly unless I'm on the rail, it's my least favorite pit of any venue I've ever been to. Mostly just because of how packed it gets in there. Not sure if it's over selling, people crashing into it, stubbing friends down or a combo of all of that but it definitely gets more people in there than they should.
"Where's Jim going?"

Yes Parker....They did indeed play Chills before they let everyone in for the soundcheck.

Manonthemoon's post is right on.... full Run Thru was incredible.  About Twilight was extended a bit and rocked hard.  Many great Forum peeps.  The band always delivers but there just seemed to be a little more energy than usual.....Carl running and jumping like crazy and Jim a little extra on the vocals (the parts where he yells or wooooos, etc).  The crowd was great all around me a few rows off the floor.  The pit looked packed.   Despite the song repeats after six shows this summer, a special one like MPP really reinforces my decision to see MMJ so many times.  They're always amazing but sometimes everything is just right and it's perfection.

Come Closer

Couldn't have said it better on all accounts. And yes, I will now always go with seats at MPP instead of the pit.

Anybody else think it was kinda odd/disappointing that there was no collab with Isbell?

we were talking about it before the show, I didn't expect it to happen but I still hoped for it. It might have happened if they had a couple of shows together but its my guess that there was just no time to work out something.

i saw some good Isbell vids from MPP on Youtube but no Cover Me Up.  That was something else, I've never seen a standing ovation like that for an opener before.
Don't you ever turn it off

they really played an amazing Steam Engine for Erik :) listening to the recording right now wow...hopefully they knew the story behind this great Jacketeer whos sadly gone :( Much love and happiness to you, Sis!

They really did!  It was amazing, the whole show was amazing.  I can't wait to get to another one.  Thanks so much for your support here and for picking up our hashtag on twitter.  I hope they knew how special they made that show for me by playing that song.

2 GA tickets available for tonight!  Make me an offer, they're just going unused :(

How did you and your family like the show?  They played Steam.  That must have been emotional.

Loved the show!  We had some MMJ newbies with us and everyone had a great time.  I'm only sorry I didn't get a chance to meet any of you...next time. ;)
Steam was the highlight for me, I think, and very emotional.  Crying the whole time...
Thanks everyone for all of your support and for thinking of us!

didn't the band hug after Steam Engine? I took that to show they knew how special that song was for those in attendance that loved Erik.

Thanks so much for all your support and for picking up our hashtag on twitter.  I honestly don't remember if they hugged after Steam Engine, but I'll take your word for it! That would be incredible, I hope they knew! It was very emotional for me. Erik really was there in spirit and I could feel him with me the whole time. What a fantastic show.

thats incredible :) i think they knew how special it was, they had to have, they looked determined throughout every second of that performance, and maybe im reading wayyyy too much into this but it looked like Jim was singing upwards a lot :) I'm really sorry about your brother, i didnt get a chance to get to know him on here but it seems like a lot of people really loved him and hes missed...I'm glad you had that moment (that 15 minute long moment) of absolute peace, It's very very very cool the band played it for you, cause if you look at the setlists lately they've been alternating Dondante and Steam Engine every night: however on this night, they played Steam Engine when it was supposed to be a Dondante night. Coincidence? I dont think so :)

I was seated on the left side about eight row past the GA.  It seemed that for most of the time we couldn't hear Jim's guitar or his singing.  Did anybody else experience this problem?
