I can't wait to argue with venue staff about early entry this tour when WU drops the ball yet again

Oh lord.  That hadn't crossed my mind, nor whatever the "VIP" experience will be.

On previous tours the VIP was just the Soundcheck passes, and it was the only thing GC seemed to do right. No real issues at all, at least as far as the half dozen or so I went to.

Someone tweeted at Patrick about the presale disaster and he responded:

At least some of the band is aware.

THIS IS UNREAL - OUT OF MY MIND PISSED RIGHT NOW

Chat started on 12 Mar 2015, 04:20 PM (GMT+0)

(04:20:52) *** Justin Miller joined the chat ***
(04:20:52) Justin Miller: Hello - I have a question regarding roll call laminates
(04:22:39) *** Jon joined the chat ***
(04:22:46) Jon: Hi, how can we help you today?
(04:23:25) Justin Miller: hey Jon - quick question on roll call laminates, and in particular at Red Rocks - can you help?
(04:23:45) Jon: What's your question?
(04:24:21) Justin Miller: can we use roll call laminates for early entry at Red Rocks? Are you familiar with the GA lineup process there?
(04:26:53) Jon: I'm not familiar with the venue. I do know that the laminates will grant you early entry (where available). If that's something that can be facilitated at the Red Rocks, then you will be given early entry. More info on that should be available as the event approaches.
(04:28:38) Justin Miller: I'm very familiar with the fine print, but was hoping WU could be more helpful. Incidentally, many RC members, myself included, are incensed over the unannounced Gilt pre-sale. This clearly diluted the RC presale and is a slap in the face to every RC member who joined for pre-sale and has already invested in the album.
(04:31:18) Jon: We're not affiliated with Gilt or their pre-sale, but thank you for the feedback.
(04:33:54) *** Jon left the chat ***
(04:42:09) Justin Miller: Jon ??? Hello?
(04:42:22)  *** Justin Miller has rated the chat Bad ***
(04:42:57) Justin Miller: this is unreal - I'm going to contact the band directly. Same old Ground Control cluster
(04:43:50) *** Justin Miller left the chat ***

Something needs to be done about all of this shit WU and the band's management has thrown at dedicated RC fans this week, assuming management okayed the Gilt presale (they had too).
I wonder why we listen to poets when nobody gives a fuck

I'm getting worried about grabbing 2 seats for both Cbus shows tomorrow.  I'll be working, so I will try to snag them when they go on sale.  What's the chance that I will not be able to get good seats now?  Or seats at all?

Didn't some Soundchecks (Forecatle 2012?) require a separate ticket for another fee?

And the band's Twitter account is retweeting this Gilt City shite (now sold out) as we type...

Yes, they were all separate purchases, in addition to the cost of the show ticket.  They were $40 if I remember correctly, and included the show poster but never sold bundled with a show ticket.

You never really got a ticket to the Soundchecks. They sent an email a couple of days before with instructions, and used as a confirmation. They had a master list of names, and you just checked in at the given time, and place. Then we either got a wristband or stick on decal type thing, and waited until we were ushered in.

Thanks for pointing this out. I responded to thread on Twitter and told Patrick to look out for the thread containing all of the horror stories. It's good to see someone in the band is aware and has acknowledged publicly.

Wait so, this was an entirely separate presale, for EVERY show, available to ANYONE?!

When I saw this thread, I thought "Gilt City" was a venue in the UK and you all were discussing what seats you got.

same fuckin thing here. It wasn't til Fully tweeted at Jim and Tom that I looked at it.  This is complete BS and a slap in the face especially with this whole Deluxe Roll Call money grab.
Don't you ever turn it off

I wonder if ticket allotment to 3rd parties was agreed to before the Roll call packages
where offered to the fans and they under estimated the demand.  It looks to me like there are a lot more roll call members now.
That's very possible. I don't have a problem with multiple presales or even paying a premium for a digital download I don't need (let alone the four I bought yesterday),  but a heads up from WU would have been nice.

They're touting themselves as the liaison between fans and the band, so they should deliver as such.
God sure baked a lot of fruitcake, baby.

I'm totally pissed off as well. A little head's up to roll call members would have been the proper thing to do. I hope there are some folks who bought a few extra tickets to the show in order to help out Roll Caller's that get shut out. If I don't get my tickets tomorrow I will need some help. I'm not missing the Athens show, and hope I don't have to pay some scumbag for tickets on StubHub.

Glad the band is aware. Feels like the same debacle suffered by my deadhead friend's getting shut out of the Fare Thee Well shows. Too many "music biz" people making money at the expense of the band and the real fans.

Wow millerjustin.  That is not right!  I've never heard of or seen a customer service rep from a chat ever just bail like that.   They always stay on until the customer signs off after some cheerful banter and thank yous.

The early entry stuff was kind of last minute last tour..... if in fact it was happening for a particular show and especially where the line was supposed to be forming.  I wouldn't worry about early entry yet.  That's several months away.  I think WU has their hands full with other issues right about now.

I'm sure the band knows about the problems.  I saw Bo after Newport shortly after the Forum changed in 2012.  I didn't even mention anything, but he just volunteered that he knew about the website change and he was "on it" and looking into getting it right.

I think the band will eventually make up for all this crap.  As Ellis said though, once listening to the greatness of the new album, and once the summer shows start much will be forgiven.

Good luck tomorrow EverythingChanges.... I know how important getting good tix is for you/us.

itrainmonkeys

It's never fun when you feel like a hardcore fan of a band who goes out of their way to buy anything they release and go to as many shows as possible and be treated so poorly by the "fan club" for that particular band.

The complaints have been coming for years but there's no sign of change from grndCTRL aka Wonderful Union. Looks like we just have to keep gritting our teeth and dealing with it.

millerjustin

they are neither Wonderful, nor are they a union.

What's in here won't disappear

Hello All,

The Gilt City pre-sale had no impact on the allotment of tickets available for Roll Call pre-order. They are two completely separate pre-sales. Please send any and all of your concerns to info@mymorningjacket.com and we'll respond to everyone individually.

Thanks,
Alison

Woldie

Why individually?  Addressing the issue right here would be some welcome transparency.

Sorry but I ain't buying that one. They're obviously two different presales but EVERY band only gets so many tix allotted to them for presales. If they want to have one fan club one, or three separate ones it doesn't matter. The total amount of tix remains the same. It's not like bands get 10% of tix for this presale, and 10% for that one. If this wasn't the case why wouldn't they sell all the tix through their own presales or promotions?  Because the promoters, and sellers like TM/LN want their cut, and won't allow it. They're not giving up more than X amount of tickets and fees to anyone.

A better question is why don't you guys buy up extra tix from the promoters, on top of the allotted %,pay their ticket fees, and have more to offer in presales?  I doubt anyone here would complain about a couple of extra bucks in fees  (that they would have to pay to TM anyway) as long as they got tix in the RC presale, and didn't have to fight the entire public at the General sale.

Exactly. Whether those tickets came from the Presale allotment or not,  we got no notice they existed until it was too late to get tickets at certain venues and they eat into what we might be able to buy at the public on-sale. Plus,  if we did buy them we are stuck with numerous digital downloads that we didn't need because we've already bought the album,  but we still have to pay more for these tickets because we have to buy it bundled with the digital download.  It's just a bad way to treat the people who spend a great deal of their disposable income on this band.  I'm  done with this because I've said my piece. Just remember that treating us fairly would be good for business.

Stevie

Can we please stop tweeting the actual members of the band because we couldnt get tickets?  That's embarrassing.  There are far better ways to go about that.  This thread is regressing fast.
