How does it work for someone that is travelling solo?? Room wise, cost wise, choices, etc?
Always starting over, but somehow I always know where to begin.

i'd love to do it but it's hard to justify the cost when i've done a week in europe for about the same.

Enjoy Europe then!  maybe Euro Disney and/or a Ricky Martin show?  rock ON!  jk jk but seriously, I've been to both OBH's and don't regret a cent spent

More like some mmj or pj shows next time they head over.

They have done a "flying solo" package where you are paired up with another solo traveler. It is the same cost as the basic room so $1399 per person plus the other fees and whatnot listed above.

I did the flying solo option! it was awesome. I met a new friend by doing so, my Kentucky friend who I still keep in touch with! pricing wise as someone already said, it's the same. whatever level you want is the price, since all pricing is per person anyway

Did anyone meet Molly while they were down there?

"mextacy"

It's Mexico, so there's Guacamolly everywhere.
What's in here won't disappear

I did it as cheap as possible, solo with a buddy and this was my cost.   Don't forget, it's all inclusive.   I probably drank $800 worth of absolute mandarin vodka.   Add in twelve $25 meals and four $50 concert tickets and it all starts looking like a pretty dang good value.

OBH Costs
4 Night Room  $1,299
Processing Fee  $40
Travel Insurance  $99
Airport Ground Transportation  $40
OBH Total  $1,478

Airfare from STL  $410

Total Total  $1,888

Let's not kid ourselves that those meals are worth anywhere near $25 a pop...... Though maybe I'm just jaded because I got food poisoning the last morning last year... If you were on the bus ride with me, I'm sorry.

You got hit with it too?? oh man, i'm so sorry.. I got it the morning we left and it was TERRIBLE.  We booked another day at a hotel a little south of the resort and it was completely shot as i was either on the toilet or throwing up into the toilet.  I ordered a quessadila and a cheeseburger right after the last show ended and i specifically remember them saying I was lucky because they were about to get extremely busy and i would get the food quicker than most..  :(

If i go again, i will not touch the room service food.. However, to be honest, i didn't find the food to be bad at all.  I don't know where most of you guys eat on a regular basis but it was certainly better than most of the shitty restaurants you will find in any given town.  That said, i didn't bother with the pool side stuff because it seemed to be mostly hot dogs and burgers and other junk food.  The buffet place that was inside the building with the spa in it as well as the french restaurant and the steak house were certainly acceptable to me.  It wasn't gourmet or "foodie" level type of stuff but i found it pretty tasty overall..  At the very least, i never came away from a meal thinking "where did they find THAT meat?" or thinking that i wasted an appetite (worst feeling in the world).

Just checked back in here after posting this a while back. Thanks for all the great feedback, guys. Very helpful and insightful. If anyone is ever in Knoxville, feel free to hit me up for a brew!

This thread is very helpful, thank you everyone for your input! I'm comparing the costs of this versus the GeezerFest at the Coachella grounds for my annual ridiculous music trip. Will have to present these numbers to the board of directors...

That's a tough one in terms of preference, especially since you don't know who the other bands at OBH are yet.  In terms of price, Desert Trip should be way cheaper if you plan it right.  Desert Trip is also a once in a long long time kind of event.  Then again, if you are a Jacket die hard, every big event of theirs feels like a can't-miss.  Good problem to have i guess.

Clarkwork

We didn't get food poisoning while there, (and actually I didn't think the food was bad at all, but I'm easy to please).  But my wife and I ate at TGI Friday's at the ATL airport on the way back and got food poisoning there, and it hit us both on take off, which made me puke in my OBH hat right as we were taking off.  THen wife puked, we were sitting with puke around us for the short 30 min trip.  So, just ironic we didn't get sick in Mexico, but all hell broke loose in Atlanta.
If you don't know for yourself, how could you ever know for me....

Honesty some of the food is pretty decent if you can plan around getting seated in an actual restaurant vs. the happy hour food or cafeteria style places - takes a little planning

My wife and I have been planning for our first OBH trip and getting restless for some details! I remember seeing a thread about possible openers, but are there any new rumors?

Desert Trip is hard to pass up but pricey if you want to be less than a half mile from the stage.

I'm curious about the stage view from the terraced rooms in the concert courtyard.  I've had concert courtyard twice now on the ground floor.  Since my hubby is coming along this time, I was thinking about the sky terrace, but not if the view of the stage is a bad one....just on the chance that I want to sit up there one night.

Bulldog

Gina,

We had two couples, one with a 3rd floor on each side on the main area. Both were just back of the sound board and about even with the bar set up and while they were not bad for warm ups, the angle and such made it where other than one or two warm up bands we all went down other than my brother in law and he seemed rather happy with it.

Hope that helps,

Very helpful, actually.  Thank you.  I had a decent view from the patio, but I noticed that the terrace has a recessed wall/planter for safety reasons, likely, which seems like it would hinder the view some.  I don't think that a little bit of time on the roof in a jacuzzi is going to be worth an extra $400 a room. LOL

Damn, it's not only more expensive, but the cheapest rooms this time (Silver) put you in the 2 buildings that are farthest away.

I booked cheapest level last time and was in bldg 4.

rab7607

Dang, no price reduction either for early bird returning guests? I believe it was $1299 for the cheapest early bird option for OBH2. We had Building 7 for OBH1 and building 5 for OBH2 going with the cheapest options. Oh well, its not like Building 1 & 2 are miles away, just won't have a private restroom for the shows this time.

RaspberryJam

We were in building 1 last year. It was fine, actually nice to be away from the fray.
