Hey guys,

I would love to do One Big Holiday in 2017, but am a little hesitant about what it might cost me. Can anyone share some insight as to how much tickets have been in the past, hotel costs, airfare, etc. Any insight/tips would greatly be appreciated! Happy Easter and hope everyone is having a great weekend!

You could do a month in Europe for that, so best is clearly subjective.

I did it as cheap as possible, solo with a buddy and this was my cost.   Don't forget, it's all inclusive.   I probably drank $800 worth of absolute mandarin vodka.   Add in twelve $25 meals and four $50 concert tickets and it all starts looking like a pretty dang good value.

OBH Costs
4 Night Room  $1,299
Processing Fee  $40
Travel Insurance  $99
Airport Ground Transportation  $40
OBH Total  $1,478

I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Let's not kid ourselves that those meals are worth anywhere near $25 a pop...... Though maybe I'm just jaded because I got food poisoning the last morning last year... If you were on the bus ride with me, I'm sorry.
Mona Lisa must'a had the highway blues, you can tell by the way she smiles.

the food was more or less disgusting across the board, maybe I'm a stiff critic.  But you don't go for the food.

Come Closer

The buffet style options were pretty bad, but I had some decent food at the restaurants.

i'd love to do it but it's hard to justify the cost when i've done a week in europe for about the same.

Enjoy Europe then!  maybe Euro Disney and/or a Ricky Martin show?  rock ON!  jk jk but seriously, I've been to both OBH's and don't regret a cent spent
What's in here won't disappear

The nice part of the all-inclusive part is that you've already paid for everything once you step off the plane in Mexico save some tips and the 20% fee you pay to use the resort credits.

I want to add my $.02 (heh) to this conversation.  They had a payment plan last year which I am sure they will do again, and I babysat before and after work every day (no I am not a 16 year old) to help save up to pay off my credit card.  I can honestly say I don't regret one penny of what I spent on this trip....of course you can spend that much on whatever trip you want to go on, if you prefer a week abroad by all means do it!  But seriously, the days you spend at OBH are not like any other....there are just no words.  The entire atmosphere is beyond amazing all day and into the nights.  I met some lifelong friends, enjoyed some of the best live music of my life, and enjoy some relaxation (and LOTS of cocktails) in beautiful Mexico.

Oh the food was awful, worst part of the trip.  I'm only basing the cost on what I would pay for food/day if I went on vacation ANYWHERE.    The food sucked, but it was more or less fuel for the fire.

first, a disclaimer:

i'm a lifelong bachelor who gets most of my meals through drive-thru windows. so i'm pretty easy to please when it comes to grub.

but i didn't think the food was THAT bad.  the buffet place did suck the one time i went there, but the other restaurants i visited, plus room service breakfast and the super bowl spread, were plenty good enough for me.

Crispy

Most of the food wasn't so great (being generous here), but I found the "street" taco station in the Ipanema (I think) place to be quite acceptable. I never got sick at all, though I was a little worried about that medium-rare 2 am room service cheezburger.

I fixed the above for you.

Ha! I've had worse. Plus, with all the champagne and hookers and blow that came with it, who cared?
