We were in building 1 last year. It was fine, actually nice to be away from the fray.

That's good to know.

I was also hoping I might be able to slide into early-bird pricing this year (went to OBH2 only) but oh well, it's only money, right?

Dang, no price reduction either for early bird returning guests? I believe it was $1299 for the cheapest early bird option for OBH2. We had Building 7 for OBH1 and building 5 for OBH2 going with the cheapest options. Oh well, its not like Building 1 & 2 are miles away, just won't have a private restroom for the shows this time.

Was really counting on the early bird option as well. We were in building 1 both years and it wasn't all that bad, actually was quiet just kind of a hike to the other side.

Wish they were doing more for the folks who have shelled out the cash both years than just allowing them to book early. Think we may have been priced out of making it 3 for 3

can anyone explain to me the difference between a deluxe gold double occupancy room vs. deluxe gold triple occupancy?

best i can tell, it's the same size room with two double beds, they're just allowing you to cram 3 people in there instead of 2.  am i missing something?

Nope, you've got it pegged.

slappymoe

Yeah, i was afraid of that.

One would think it might involve a larger room, another bed, prime location, something to justify charging all three people full price. Guess I have a lot to learn.

Hell, I don't know for certain but that's how I read it. They're squeezing maximum money. It's a joke the price for 3 is almost the same as 2.

Does anyone know if you book let's say a Triple Deluxe Gold, and one of the three people wants to come in a day early and pay that extra discount rate for a night before the event....do all three people have to do this or can just one of them do it?

It's not the room you're paying for with that price so much as its all-inclusive food and booze and the festival itself.   Would you expect any other festival to be cheaper b/c you were going with 3 people instead of 2?

You make a valid point. It just seems Cloud 9 is squeezing out every drop they can:

-all levels of room type are more expensive this year
-no early bird rates this year
-the cheapest rooms are in outskirt buildings this year
-the shuttle to/from airport is more expensive than last time
-extra nights are more expensive than last time

Don't get me wrong, I'll be clicking fast and furiously next week to make a reservation. Hopefully, the bulk of the increases are going directly to MMJ, but I doubt that's the case. It would be easier to digest even if the charitable part was higher, but a trip for 2 will be pushing $4000 before you make flight arrangements with $10 going to Positive Legacy.

oh-wah-oh

How does it work for someone that is travelling solo?? Room wise, cost wise, choices, etc?

They have done a "flying solo" package where you are paired up with another solo traveler. It is the same cost as the basic room so $1399 per person plus the other fees and whatnot listed above.

I'm also having to go solo, but I'm not seeing any information about a flying solo option on the site. Does anyone know if they are not giving that option this year? Or am I just overlooking it.

WickedMessenger

I read somewhere that there is no solo package this time.

For people that have been to OBH, how big is the crowd and how hard to get a decent spot? It seems like there will be a lot of die hard fans at OBH (or Red Rocks it sounds like) looking for the best spots.  At smaller venues like Brooklyn Bowl in Vegas it was pretty easy to get up close with Roll Call laminate.

If there was another 3-night run state side I would consider travelling there, but doubt we will hear of any more tour dates before June 7.

at the risk of slight exaggeration......you can get as close as you want whenever you want. The happiest, mellowest, most accommodating group of humans you'll ever encounter.

Really, it's only 2500 max. any spot in the courtyard is a more than decent spot.

Agreed.  It's very easy to get a great spot.  Nothing at all like Red Rocks.  In fact, you can get a variety of great spots during the same show as it's easy to mill about.  You don't really have to show up too early if you want to be super close.  The courtyard is terrific!

Totally agree.  My wife and I were able to watch from the sixth or seventh row of people, walk all the way to the back to take in the whole scene, and go back up close without feeling like I was cutting through people or taking anyone's spot.  It felt way smaller than 2,500 people, but still had the energy of a big crowd.  You can get a drink, use the restroom, or change where you want to stand very easily.  Other than the front-front, everything was accessible.

I've been plugging in all of the numbers..........hoping to get cheapest room.

Airport transfers and any extra nights have to be paid in full but can be added at almost any time later.

Airfare, of course, is a pretty big variable.

Does anyone have any experience with the Rock Platinum w/ Single Sky Terrace? Is it worth the extra cash? Wife and I will be first timers at OBH this year. Assuming we get a room with the roll call pre sale.

RaspberryJam

We had the Rock Platinum w/ single terrace last year. It was very nice and I would be happy with it again. I would go upstairs in the morning while my husband was still sleeping and have my coffee. I never took advantage of the hot tub but it's there. The terrace is very private. We were in the last building (building 1), had a decent view of the ocean and none of it was too far from anything.

My wife & I stayed in a Rock Platinum with the Sky Terrace.  Our room was in Building 2.  The view across the water, towards Cozumel, is beautiful, especially at sunrise.  The rooftop jacuzzi was a nice place to relax nightly after the shows, they're basically two person bathtubs that you fill each time you use them.

Let me know if you have any questions.
Cuz it's been so long since someone shattered me.

Did anyone use ground transportation other than the $75 per person one offered at booking?  It was very convenient, especially on the way back to the airport, but it seems pretty pricey.  Just checking to see if a cheaper option worked as well.

Was there post OBH show area hotel info around here, or am I going crazy?  Maybe it was on One Big Family, but I can't find it in either place.  Any help is greatly appreciated.
