all the time on this forum we hear people blathering about  how mmj has changed them and ect. ect. But i must ask... not what has the jacket done for you... but what have have you done for the jacket.
First off, have any of you done anything involving the buddy system. Like put up posters anywhere or advertis a concert somehow. I Signed up for that thing quite a while ago but haven't gotten a response.
My friends and I share somewhat of a similar taste in music. One is a die hard U2 fan, another is your typical alt.rock radio listener.      I have introduced literally all of my friends to the jacket... and they all love them. It surprises me so much that they aren't a bigger band. I've found only a very small amount of people who don't like MMJ.
With the release of Okonokos came much more oppurtunitys...    "hey dude lets hang out this weekend with some people i got this sweet DVD"       "alright sounds good"...      and then bam! they love'em.  Also, i have incorporated and even used Okonokos for more intimate viewings as it were.
Forgive me for my 2:30am obscene blathering and probably waste of a thread but what i'm trying to say/ask is...

-How have you used the jacket outside of this strange online forum community.

-Have you introduced many people to MMJ and if so how do they like'em

-Anyone ever use Okonokos to bring people to together to introduce them to'em or use okonokos in any  ways as it were

-and Is there anyone else who is suprised that MMJ isn't MUCH bigger.

again, i'm sorry if you find this distasteful, but also, if that be the case. then just carry on with your busniess without a word, and don't harrass me. damnit i get a lot of that on this forum.
cheers.

Well, I've written five online MMJ reviews - concerts, CDs and the Okonokos DVD. All were positive.

I've also been pimping this band to any and all for three-plus years... and I tend to possess some talent in getting points across.

I'm pretty intent on keeping the Jacket to myself, smaller venues, cheaper ticket prices etc  ;)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Ive got an EVIL plan babe

1.  Every time I talk to another human about music I recommend MMJ.

2.  I've converted two people (who heard MMJ and weren't impressed) to the darkside of obsessed fan-dom by taking them (and paying for the tickets) to an MMJ concert.  It should be noted that they went on to convert others.

3.  I've converted people at my old job by playing MMJ on the loudspeaker during closing hours while we cleaned up.
Just cause it starts off slow babe, doesn't mean I  don't have evil urges.

I made a buddy of mine listen to  It Still Moves, and that  convinced him to join me at the 11-17-06 Dallas show.  That poor bastard never even knew what hit him.  Less than two weeks later he owns every LP.  I guess that helps out.
I'm ready for it now!

I have people over to listen to "At Dawn" and if they don't like it I enject them with DRANO in thier sleep.   :-/

I payed for my friends ticket for the NYC show coming up. Money well spent, I say.

I took my best friend who at least enjoyed them a bit to the Ryman show, and completely converted him. He became instantly interested in the b-sides which he had before sort of laughed at me for. I don't blame him. But now he gets  it.

Besides purchasing mostly everything MMJ
I've purchased 4 or five copies of It Still Moves and 1 copy of Z for friends.
Took 3 friends to different concerts.
I'd say I've converted 4, maybe 5 searching musical souls.
The Clash might have been the last gang in town, but My Morning Jacket IS the only Band that matters.
P.S.
I also did not interupt Jim other than "I think your music is the greatest and I am really glad to meet you", at the most recent concert Toronto because he was intently listening at the back to the opening act (female).  She's in this forum group right?
Purchasing the product, selling the band to others, and respecting privacy.

I listen to mmj in (what people who don't "get it" would call) excess. I put in a cd, and my friends are like, "let me guess, meg--my morning jacket?"

but... a few of them really like mmj now, which is cool.

I give mmj cd's as gifts, because (really) it's the gift that keeps on giving.

I hope this isn't the reason why it's you "old" job now. That deserves promotion, and a a debt of gratitude from your fellow co-workers.

I'm buying all of their albums, not getting them for nothing.  I'm going to my first MMJ concert in January.  I asked my sister, who has never heard them, until now, to go with me.  She said she listened to some song clips, and said she likes them!  I feel I've made a pretty good contribution!  ;D

Honestly, I hope they dont become TOO big!  I like the state they're at right now.  No longer underground, but not popular to the point where the'yre being shoved down people's throats.

Speaking of, has anyone ever heard MMJ on normal radio play?  Not college or public radio stations, but big money stations?  I am just curious, because I don't think they do in my fine state but then again, I never listen to the radio anymore.

(Oh, and I've contributed strictly with my wallet by purchasing everything that has ever been waved in front of my face and I still feel like I owe somebody. ;D)
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

ManNamedTruth

I buy anything that says My Morning Jacket on it that I can get my hands on. I converted one friend and along with 2 other people that we're bringing to the show. So I'm counting 3 now cause i know they're gonna love em. I play them all the time at the bar we go to cause you can download songs from the jukebox, its fucking great.

The local alternative rock station (i think they're owned by clearchannel) had them on for awhile when Z came out. They only played them on sunday nights where they have a show where they play new music and callers way in opinions. Judging on feedback some of the songs get regular play but the majority don't. I haven't heard them on since.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

i've been busily spreading the word among my friends... my best friend actually picked mmj the other day when i was watching O when she came in the room. (considering i bought her a copy of Z for her birthday in january, i'd say my style of spreading the word is more of a conquest by stealth. i'll get them all in the end).

plus i made them all come to the listening party... other than making them all come along to an actual concert (which i would if i got the chance!!!)

i've bought all the albums & eps (still have never seen the singles available here...)....

short of spray-painting i love mmj on the opera house, there's not much more i can do for the boys at the mo.... ;D
love a song for the way it makes you feel

i've heard them on XM Radio (but that may not count since i requested it!!!)
If you're lucky, MMJ will fill the void you didn't even know you ever had. If you're luckier, you'll get to see them live.

A few nights before they played at Butler in Indy, I heard them in Bloomington on 93XRT.  They have this segment called cage match were people vote between two artist and the winning song makes it on air (or something like that).   Apparently, "Anytime" won 7 nights in a row.
