Don't let a good thang die! St. Louis is fine with me, but then I'm coming from OK. I agree this event would surely be best if it was in the land of bourbon!

i'm doing a little google action right now...

these are some issues with a public spot:
-disrupting the campers around you
-privacy
-securing a space big enough

benefits:
-likely set up for burning stuff
-public bathrooms
-informational plaques around the camp area

**if anyone out there is a AAA member, you can call them for free help looking for this kind of stuff.  i can't do it today, but maybe later this week.**

(i just realized this computer i use for work--it's a machine dedicated to a particular function--has internet access.  sure it's OS9, but i'm connected!)

the Mammoth Cave camping area is great.

Had some fun times there back in High School.

As far as location, what about that old victorian house they used to film the beggening of Okonoko's?  It looks like it's got a good amount of "buffer" land around it and apparently you can stage a full on rock show right outside.  Plus, there is always the chance you could get eatin by a bear, that always tends to spice things up.

Seriously though,

A. Beach House
B. Cave
C. what ever happened to Johnny's farm (I'd like to hear Megan sing in that silo)

Barren River Lake campgrounds is also nice.

We oughta rent a huge ass house boat and take the party out to the middle of the lake.

Houseboat? That would be amazing.

The lake is pretty cool. I wonder which campgrounds are open... you can get pretty ridiculous out there without bothering anyone.

So will this be a pre-Bonnaroo thing or a post-Bonnaroo thing???
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

a few thoughts...

1) I really like the mammoth cave idea!  I think we should find somewhere in that area (there are a lot of campgrounds down there) and just make sure we can get loud and be left alone

2) Once we do set a date and place I think we should do some rogue publicity. If it's a just small gathering it's still going to be fun, but I bet we could get a nice crowd. i think we could we could possibly make this into a lebowskifest-esque annual event so I just don't want to limit it to just the forum (hence the name change again).

3)  i'm also thinking we need to carefully find a date. I don't know if April is the best time, just because it doesn't give people a lot of time to plan, especially by the time we get this all pinned down.  I don't know a good time, but even May would be better in my eyes.  June seems the best to me if it weren't already packed with events and festivals.

4) We should probably run all this past the band at some point...  :-?

Thoughts? Who wit me?

megisnotreal

they aren't open until march, so i can't stop by and be all, "hey, can i rent out your entire campground for a bigass party like we used to back in the day?"

it is like 45 minutes from where i live now. used to be (seriously) five minutes away from me back when i lived in ol' cave city.

last time i went up to Cave City with a big group of people we all stayed in this wigwam campground, they weren't crazy expensive either and there really wasn't alot of other people there.

just an idea in case the campground falls through
