You are a small, misguided soul, my friend.  Grow some balls and call us in the morning.

No, really-this thread isn't about you or your precious "opinion"-of which we're all entitled to-but that's what every thread is about, isn't it?  I'm looking at the title-MMJ Fan Club-and the most annoying person in the MMJ universe replies with some public masturbation about how his views aren't respected.

I'm thinking you must be about 19, by the way you act.  Good luck under the rock.

(not that there's anything wrong with being 19, true believers...just that immaturity often informs his posts)

glad to see aMD back. Yes, I gave him some fun ribbing but I was hoping he'd get over it and not take this so seriously. The clique he refers to is the folks who understand that what is said here is OK. That ALL that is said here is OK.  All of us here can say whatever we want, defend whomever we wish, and believe the sun rises in the west. I can actually defend any and every thing the band and mgt does.

And it's OK.

It's sad that aMD reads the posts here and doesn't comment. Sad that he feels he has to read and not participate (that baffles me).

I accept everyone here (Despite their faults) as I am gracious that people do the same to me.

If people didn't get mad at each other and say shit (some of which we might regret, some not) then we wouldn't be human. That's what we do. The key is to hold that conflict and maintain the tightness of fans. Life does not exist without conflict. Good luck if you think otherwise.

I have never understood why someone could get their feelings hurt here (someone want to explain that to me?). Of all the shit going on in the real world, this seems like the place to let it roll, and no one gets hurt.

Let it roll.

sincerely,

Tracy

ok well some people post to voice complaints about this or that, and some people post to say they think such opinion is wrong.  in the end, we're all posting what we feel, so why is there a different level of acceptance between these posts?  we're all saying what's on our minds, be it good or bad.

Not that my opinion counts or anything, but I think they should have things like MMJ being on Letterman on the main page of their website.

That way, casual fans (or for that matter hard core fans) that don't like browsing message boards know that the band will be on.

Oh and lot of people that I know that have gone to the Pearl Jam shows with MMJ opening.,have told me that MMJ has melted their faces off.  And that they would love to see a whole show of just MMJ.   :)

don't worry, things like that always end up on the main page.

and yes, things like that get out on the message board a lot sooner. it happens with every band. that's the way the internet works and it's one of the things that makes a message board so cool ;)

wow. I've said it before, and I'll say it again....if you critique THIS band, THIS amazing fucking group of guys (by faulting mgmt. you're faulting the band) then you should be ashamed of yourself.  This band will do anything for their fans (go searching for my post about the first time I saw them with my wife and what they did for us) and the "Management" knows this. This isn't some corporate band with strings attached. This is a family, plain and simple.

ass.
....as mayor of Drugachusettes, I declare this pizza to be...AWESOME!!!

I think a MMJ decoder ring would be neat-o!  I think it should be designed based on the Memphis Mafia's TCB/Flash  - but with MMJ instead of TCB.

Who needs a fan club when you have LaurieBlue! :D
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Bermuda is right! that exactly what i was thinking, and maybe she doesnt get enough thanks. so here it is from me, thank you Laurie for all your great werk regarding articles and news. Laurie for honorary fan club president :D

and as far as this family run band concept, its incredibly refreshing, and one of the reasons i listen to every peice of their music i can, and post on this site. im kinda the little redheaded stepchild of this family ;)

Ouch. Didn't think I had that one coming.

I try not to take getting multiple body slams all that personal. People can get their feelings hurt pretty easy, though (yes, even online) - after the initial sting, us thin-skinned folk wonder wether or not we're even wanted here to hang around anymore (just ask aMD about that).

Depending on what kind of person you are, you can take it alot more or less personal when it's coming from people you've actually met in real life... I'm not sure where I fall in that category, really, though - because I tend to take shit personally (especially from people that I sincerely like), as I'd like to have the rep. for being a nice guy... not some stupid/self-obsessed person who thinks he deserves by birth-right an answered e-mail, a ride from the ban's tour bus, a free autographed vinyl, a locke of Jim James' hair, and maybe a back massage from Patrick.

Anyway... I really didn't think what I said (about feeling like irrelevant bitching falling on death ears) was all that horrible or stupid, but I bet the folks who went after me didn't think what they said was all that harsh, either. That's how it goes. No big deal. I'm not going to drop off of the face of the earth and stop making attempts at being social at the shows, just because a tone was misread or I came off as a jerk one night online.

Annnywaysss....

I'd say MMJ could definately use some better news coverage, here and there. I like to know about TV appearances, interviews and album reviews, and new MMJ material on soundtracks, and that sort of thing. I ditto the thanking of god for Laurie, by the way.

It freaking bothers me so bad that even though nobody ever says anything about disliking the band just because the news department on their website isn't the most informative thing ever, or after months of waiting patiently there was no response to a question e-mailed to management, people can still get upset about it on a personal level, to the point of crucification. What's that all about? Are we being protective of the band, misreading tone, or what?

Maybe if I had made a compliment sandwich, I wouldn't have gotten so much flak? Whatya'll think?

Something good... After much demand, we've finally got a Merchandise page. Good for us, good for them. Finally I have a page to direct my buddies to when they ask what I want for my birthday.

Something that needs improvement... The News could be alot more involved and informative, and the "Fan Club" isn't really where it should be - right now less fanatic fans (not us folks, but our friends, family, etc) are relying on us for news and info that could be formed into a e-newsletter of sorts and shipped out to the "Fan Club" mailer-list (which, I guess, has been dormant since October).

Something good... The Forums are great. The community is strong in presence, the administration is very responsive, and overall there tends to be an extremelly friendly and personal, and helpful and fun vibe. See also: Fans Sing MMJ, See also: MMJ Tabsite, etc.

I'm gonna get offline and cry because you guys hate me now. And when I clamor up to the front row at Bonnaroo, you can expect an appropriate sad/hurt/pout face.

thanks for the input ewok.

I like to kid around (a lot).

You know that.

AE, as I said in my post, I wasn't trying to be a dick. You read that, right? I hope I didn't upset you... but you also surely saw where I was coming from with my post. Some things warrant getting a response and some don't. I'm not trying to belittle you by saying that you didn't deserve a response, I just can't think of another way to phrase my thoughts right now.

I'm not really gonna comment on anything else right now. I've had a lot of down time lately and a lot of stress and I'm obviously taking some of that aggression out on this board, which I don't wanna do. So I'll check back in with you folks next week sometime, hopefully after some of the shit has settled in my life.

Any views or opinions presented in this thread are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of the remaining forum members... ;)

I tried, but couldn't resist.  Anyone who has something, anything, to say about MMJ should be able to do so in these forums regardless of how absurd others of us may deem their comments.  Once I read a post that I personally do not like, I will skip over it in the future.  I highly recommend this practice as it will help keep you from getting bent out of shape over things you may not agree with.  People should not be made to feel unwelcome over a comment or gripe whichever side of the fence they are on.

Yup, I see where you're coming from, and like I was PM-ing Meg about how disapointed I am that I came off so wrong in my first post. I hope you guys know just by my having been here over a year that I'm not disapointed in any way with the band... We're all extended family, if not for anything else, at least for the shared love for this music.

I was just about to shoot you a big novel of a PM saying don't worry, no hard feelings and much love, and all that good stuff.

Quoterock Bonaroo for me! (I'm too old to tolerate it. Or maybe I'm a wus...)

I shall rock it, and rock it well...

But you really should cave-in and come to Bonnaroo. 8)

Just don't think about the lack of showers until it's too late to turn back.

Actually AE, that was a criticism sandwich on compliment bread.  A very common mistake. ;)
