Somehtings that impressed me were the cleanliness and friendliness of all things Louisville. Great city, and I envy anyone who gets to call it home. This show seemed like a big deal for the city, the mayor showed up!

Yeah, it was a big deal for us here in "Luhavul". It's been a long time coming..... it kinda brings everything full circle.

who fanned the fire that burned down the lake?

QuoteWe were discussing the crowds and the glow sticks over pizza and booze after the Louisville show... All of us are obviously only speaking for a little bubble in a much larger crowd --- but our party of eight felt the atmosphere at Nashville was more aggressive, dare I say violent, compared to the usual MMJ show.

There was crowd surfing, and you could tell the crowd in our little area was irritated by it and just trying to dump the guys onto their heads. Result of that was a couple of folks in my party got hit/kicked/elbowed by accident. There was also an attempt at a moshpit, which thankfully didn't really work. The glowstick lobbing was fun to begin with, but we all know the difference between getting hit on the top or back of the head by a glowstick that was lobbed in the air, versus getting hit by a glowdart that was thrown laterally, purposefully. It looked like Jim, Carl, and Tommy got nailed in the face a couple of times, too. I cringed every time - kept thinking of that picture of David Bowie with a lolipop in his eyeball. I just wanted to be like, "C'mon, dudes... stop trying to hurt people and just enjoy the show."

The atmosphere of the Louisville show was like any other show, I thought - we moved up closer twice, when there was too much chatting, but we eventually found a great little spot (out of range of the glowdarts!)... and that was about all. Apparently the lines were so bad that people felt compelled to piss into the river, but I can't say I blame them.

Both shows were facemelting and orgasmic. After each show we were sort of wandering around like lost children... I'm pretty sure Louisville was better than Nashville - better atmosphere, better crowd, better setlist. I will probably be flip-flopping on this issue for weeks to come, though. I wish I could just stay at those places, forever.

Highlights...

How Do You Know? (We are so lucky to have heard this one live!)
Cobra (Awwweesommeeeeeeeeeee)
Balls to the Walls Run Thru / One Big Holiday / Extra long Dondante / Steam Engine / Highly Suspicious

I guess I could just paste the setlists and that'd speak for itself.

AND Abraham Lincoln's HEAD FELL OFF! Abe then grabbed his head and held it in his hands for the remainder of OBH... all that great music and a giant Abraham Lincoln dancing WITH HIS FUCKING HEAD IN HIS HANDS.... breakin it down... take me now... :o

Hey Y'all...

I found some issues with my files as I was uploading the tape to the archive tonight.  I'm going to try and get my software figured out tomorrow and try and keep uploading.  So, sorry for the delay, I was expecting this to be done tonight.  Damn computers...

 ;D  ha!

didnt' have time to mention before:

SOUNDED FANTASTIC!!  during the music before the show i was worried that that it would be too loud, or that the bass was too loud, but it wasn't.

we were to the left in front of carl and we could hear all the instruments and vocals clear and beautiful!

great work, sound crew and mixers!   [smiley=beer.gif]

also:  when they played the songs in the encore tt's bass was crazy-clear in the mix!   :o  at one point i said, "damn." paul asked, "the bass?"  AWE.  SOME.

and:  THE LIGHTS AT THIS SHOW WERE AMAZING!  they have been off the charts for years, but this...this was just art.

damn, but this crew is terrific.   [smiley=beer.gif]

QuoteMe, j_rud, and a friend flew in from Philly for this show that morning. Read his post to get the basic idea of our today.

I was in the front row in front of Carl the entire show... I'll put up my pictures later... need to catch up on some sleep now.

COBRA!  :D

Wasn't you wearing the Blue Phillies shirt by any chance was it?
You're the 3rd person to recognize the shirt. Its like a lighthouse lol. We walked onto the patio at Bearno's and someone approached us:
"I think I know you"
"Naw, I dont think so".
"Yeah, blue Phillies shirt. You're GiventoFly. Im LoveDog".
Say friend, you got any more of that good sasparilla?

The bass was ridiculous. I dont know how far from the stage you were, but from the front you could actually feel it vibrating the organs in your body. It gave you a strong urge to close your eyes lest they burst from their sockets. I wouldnt say it was painful, but it was a very strange sensation.

I don't feel like I got to meet a bunch of folks at Brownings... maybe I was too drunk. I also didn't make it to Bearnos like I planned, we had some family in town and just didn't have the energy after 'Nashville to Kentucky'.
The shows I saw this weekend were INCREDIBLE and I just spent 30 minutes listening to a guy here at my work that ended up at the show try and describe what he saw on Saturday. It was hard to make out what he was saying because his face has been melted and I think he has severe motor skill damage.
I have a shit ton of photographs i need to go through and I'll get them up soon.

This is a good one. Nice!

Yeah, I have to agree on the bass. At one point in Louisville the bass just made a huge, singular thump, and the entire crowd seemed to go "ohhhh shitttt!" in a good way. Very good sound - best sound I've heard from any outdoor event.

I was with photo pass (thanks LP!) and I got to be in the pit for the first 3 songs... The bass was so strong it was hard to breathe when I was in that six foot space of speakers and front row people. AMAZING!

Yeah, the first time it hit, everyone in the pit turns to one another like "I hope we make it out of here" as it felt like continuous punches to the throat...it was incredible

Yeah, I was pretty sure it was you, but nobody in our little group could confirm it... so everyone had camera phones ready for me to make an idiot out of myself walking up to a stranger going, "Hey, Kory!"

Just cause it starts off slow babe, doesn't mean I  don't have evil urges.

Bigsky

Where To Begin...Cobra...I just crapped my pants. I can't fucking wait for Boston...come on Sept 6th.

j_rud

I think in honor of this weekend Dan needs to change his handle from GivenToFly to "BluePhilliesShirt". If it werent for that shirt we wouldnt have met LoveDog, AngryEwok, ms yvon, and others, and that was the perfect ending to our night.
Say friend, you got any more of that good sasparilla?

j_rud

In not so awesome news, Ive just discovered that Hertz, for some reason, took $300 from my bank account for the rental car....gonna have to look into that... :-[
