Honest Man

I am driving down from New Jersey. Where is everyone going to be in the parking lot? I haven't really personally talked to anyone on the forum but I would love to meet everyone and throw back some beers. I am a huge fan so I'm sure I'll fit right in. Please someone let me know! Can't wait until Saturday. :D

Quotehah, which lot are we shindiggin' in? Sheraton or MPP?

Im guessing the Sheraton wouldnt let 20+ people be loud and getting drunk in their lot  ;D

My buddy has the tix, so Im not sure when the lot opens. Someone who has their tix should check, otherwise we could call. Id assume, especially since its a saturday, it would open at 2PM.

Did we figure out if its cool to drink reebs in the MPP lot as long as we have solo cups or something? I think so, but im not sure

I emailed the info people at MPP, as it didn't say anything on my ticket other than gates open at 6:30.  I asked what time the lot opens and what the "tailgating policies" are.  Will post if I get a response.

MY RESPONSE FROM MPP:

Lots will probably open around 4PM.
No grills, glass containers or alcohol permitted in the lots.
Thanks for checking!

The thing is, I would love to meet you all before the lots open, but unless we go to a bar I imagine that is going to be hard.

My guess is that there isn't a hotel parking lot around that is going to be cool with 30 + MMJ fans drinking beer in their parking lot.

We really just need to find out when the lots open and get there early to grab a prime spot. And if the lots open at 9 a.m. I will be there at 8:30.  ;)

Does anyone know how strict they are with this rule?  That is pretty much the stated policy everywhere... And if the lots don't open until 4, we need to find another place to meet before hand.  I am ready to start the party at noon.  ;D

The lot at the Sheraton is probably the best place to pre-game. And if they give us trouble for drinking outside we could always go up to our rooms. But I would say lets meet in the Sheraton parking lot. I am giving BlueSky a ride down. She has the flag and I have my bagpipes. We should be there around 2pm. So Lets plan to start the tailgate party around 3pm. So when you hear the pipes a playing and see the flag a waving start a walking with your coolers of beer!  :D

Sound good all?
Wakin up feelin good and limber!

ALady

That works for me.  My flight gets in around noon I think.  See you there!

(can't wait to see the flag and pipes!  I'm proud to be part of such a creative group of fans!   :))

Sounds great!  Coming from Jersey and should get there around 3.

Hello all, I'm brand spanking new to the board. I live in the Baltimore area and wanted give my insight on this. The noise curfew in the past has meant that at 11:00 the portion of the PA that's providing sound to the lawn get's suddenly turned down which is kind of shocking ...it almost seems like there is a power outage to those sitting on the lawn... I was out there once and this happend and I said never again ! Pavillion only for this venue for me from that point on..People under the pavillion dont notice a thing just those poor souls on the lawn...Anyway hopefully it will be a full length show !  See you all in the pit !

Was I the only one who saw this post?! This person seems to know what theyre talking about. Has anyone else who has actually been to MPP said they unequivocally shut down the show at 11PM????

What kind of venue was ATL? If if was an indoor one within city limits, that makes sense if they had to stop it at 11PM because thats a city ordinance. Im pretty sure MPP will be in the middle of nowhere like any amphitheater. I think the amphitheater outside of Pittsburgh has an 11PM "curfew", but last summer Phish was playing until 1145PM.

4PM....WHAT?!?!!!!!?!?  >:(

What kind of place doesnt know when their lots will open less than a week before a show!? Theyll "probably" open "around" 4PM???  :-?

EDIT: I just called them and the lady said the lots will open at 530PM...She said opening them 1 hour prior to when the gates open is their typical policy..oh, and no alcohol not even in plastic cups.  :o

Hopefully no one wants to starts any bonfires because I have a feeling it will be difficult to do with all the sticks up Merriweather employees asses

Yo... I asked this question over on Phantank.com (great board btw - check it out) As phish has played there quite a bit.

I was told that the lots open real early, and that you are fine if you put the alcohol in a plastic cup.

http://www.phantank.com/showthread.php?229-Ever-been-to-the-Merriweather-Post-Pavillion

EVERY PLACE I CAN THINK OF, has a no alcohol policy and that never pans out...  They are going to tell you no alcohol, no grills, no fun ect -but they don't police any of that unless you are being a problem.  Just be smart.  BTW, what is the address to the Sheraton?  I am staying with a friend!

ynwa

i agree w/ jd - every venue has a "no alcohol" policy for their lot.  and for the most part, as long as you're not being a jackass, security will leave ya be.  i think the staff probably HAVE to recite the official policy if anyone inquires.  i vote we play it safe & go w/ solo cups.  i've got said cups & will try to remember a sharpie for names - waste not!  hopefully i'll also have some treats but may need a little help from a friend w/ a vehicle to dispense.

don't think the sheraton will be too jazzed about a massive party going down in their lot.  (even though it'd be the most awesomest lot party ever...)  that'd probably be the kind of thing they'd call the cops on.  maybe i'm just paranoid.  also, as much a i love the glorious sound of bagpipes - i don't think they'd fly in the hotel rooms or lot.  but i love the imagery of us parading to MPP w/ the flag & pipes leading the way - pied piper style!

gates definitely say 6:30pm on my tix, but nothing about what time the lot opens.  i think we're gonna need a runner or 2 (NOT IT!) to go over & check things out on the day.  the best option is probably a massive tailgait there, IF they let us in early enough.

i think it was said a while back but we'll probably need some folks to drive over w/ the coolers & cordon off a nice sized area.  i guess who would depend on 1) who will be sober to do the driving & 2) whoever gets to the hotel early enough.  the rest would parade over en masse or if you're cutting it really close time-wise, head to MPP directly the look for the blue & yellow bear flag.

holy smokes, i sound like such a bossy-boots (i promise i'm not like this) sorry!  but there's just all sorts of shit flying around & we need an action plan.

What about the Sheraton as a sort of "staging area" so we can all head over to MPP at the same time to stake out a massive tailgating area?

QuoteOooh.  I told myself to stay away from MPP posts.  Now I want to go.  Who cares if the setlist is virtually the same?  I'm afraid to even pretend to be kidding and ask the wife.  I don't have a ticket or a place to stay.  Mapquest says its almost 8.5 hours drive, though I should be able to shave 30-45 mins. off.  Fuck, MMJ- you're like a drug.

When you make a post like that, clearly you WANT to go and you just need a little shoving.

1.  It can't hurt to ask the wife
2.  I have extra tix (seriously)
3.  You can crash in my hotel room (seriously)

If you didn't want tempting, you wouldn't be poking around in this thread.

You're spot on, mahg33tah!  I have asked the wife, I have seen the posts regarding extra tickets, places to stay...  That's why I feel tempted to go.  But the wife says No and I respect that.  I appreciate the offers, but I won't be going.  Also, as awesome as the last week was, looking at the way the setlist was so similar, I'm less inclined to risk my marriage to see the same list of 25 songs I saw last week.  Just being honest... Honest Man.

Haha - well, at least I tried!

So, you have an extra ticket?  I'm sensing the wife might cave.  I don't want to be too agressive about it.  Tell me more...

The times that I was at MMP, we always partied in the parking lot and I only ever saw the cops go after underagers and people out of control.  Other than that, it was cool!!

Murph

So since its looking like we may not be getting any northeast dates, I had to do my best begging/convincing and got some of my friends to drive down to MD for the show.  Im going with two of my boys who might have heard 2 or 3 MMJ songs ever just from me putting them on the jukebox at the bar, should be interesting......can't fucking wait though

I LOVE overthinking things too, it's one of my specialties ;)

We are driving down from NJ, and would be happy to transport coolers/bodies/whatnot over to the lot.  My husband doesn't drink (but I dooooo......beer jamboree, can't wait) so we will have a sober driver for sure.  We have a 4runner so can pack a bunch in there..

So exciting!

That is crazy -- 1 hour?  No way!  We will get some partying in for sure - whether at the Sheraton or the Lot, there will be a party with a flag and bagpipes!
