I'm the biggest MMJ "fan" that I've ever met and I'm Stoned and Drunk at every f'ing concert (usually) and I'm more intelligent than the baby that started this thread...you know why?  Because I hang back and have a good time, and if I do decide to go close to the stage I REALIZE that the people up close (especially the beginners) are going to be melting their f'ing faces off and are not going to be able to contain themselves...basically, if you are really a MMJ-head then you should be smart enough to know how emotional this shit can get...and if you are too old at heart to take a little beating and are too much of a (expletive) to handle a little bit of smoke and weed then get your stupid ass to the back and shut the fuck up.

That's all I got for now, I'm just sick of people who need everything to be just perfect for them and bitch about people having a good time when it isn't their idea of what good "is" defined as...and as far as the glow sticks, don't throw them at Yim Yames, b/c if I see someone hit my man in the face there will be the beat down of your lifetime and you will be lucky to still have teeth, be responsible with your glowsticks and do drugs if it makes you happy, and if it doesn't...then shut up and mind your own business and enjoy the FACE MELT!

Oh yeah, thanks to Yim & MMJ for rocking so hard in Columbus, it was epic as always...much love.

I'm all for getting stoned and drunk at a rock show and whatever else you feel like taking.  If the music is your mission then I support it.  What took me back a little were the people I ran into at the Cary show that gave fuck all about My Morning Jacket.  More people looking down at their phones or talking about last nights bull shit that was on TV.

The contrast of seeing Widespread Panic the weekend before and feelign 7,000 people all grooving to the same beat made matters worse too and as you know all of those fans were on something, but they know where to put their focus.

We are entering The Age of the Bro.  Watch the dude in the blue shirt, he hugs every dude he can get his hands on.  We're screwed.

;D

Smokin - how does one get "pumbled"? Is that when you get pummeled by someone who is stumbling?

Woohoo more hugs&love and less glowstick-throwing, I'm all for it!  :D

I'm pro-peace for sure, pro-bro is something else altogether.  I'm a liberal guy but I'm definitely not pro-bro.  The Age Of The Bro is something we all should fear, let us not get it confused with The Age Of The Brah.  These "bro's" are a nuisance and must be destroyed.  Only because they have no respect for the music.

You might say, "Well I'm a girl, am I a bro if I talk during a show?".  The Answer is no bananer's.  You'd be a dumb bitch.  you and the other ladies here don't seem to have any symptoms of "dumb bitch disorder" as far as I can tell so you're cool with me.  Chicks who talk to their BFF's, take constant pics with their phone, and flat out don't pay attention are what I'd consider, at least in this scenario, a dumb bitch.

I haven't been here nearly as long as everybody else but I can tell you this, the bro's are coming and there isn't much we can do about it.  If we're not passionate as fuck and if we don't rock as hard as we possibly can next time they tour the vibe of the bro could fuck us.  Then the lots will be over run with bro's and dumb bitches galore, and for what?  the chance to throw a fucking glow stick at somebody famous.

Like cancer these people spread from show to show, band to band.  Forming a parasitic bond that is hard to reverse, they in most cases are a life time disease.  Similar to Aids.  It's been discussed.  Bro's/Dumb Bitche's are like Cancer-Aids. We must be strong.

The Dude in that gif didn't even try to get in the zone during Tonight I Want to Celebrate with you.  Ridiculous.  It's the first song they played too! usually when I'm at a show one of the most pumped moments is yelling until they finally come out and start into that first tune no matter what it is.

I Guess... in a way I don't understand why people pay money to see a band and then talk the whole time, give each other hj's, talk on their phone, etc.  To me, they mine as well sit in the parking lot.

songdiver

uh, widespread panic?  apparently you haven't been educated on the power of manipulation while people are on psychoactive drugs.  Sure people at those "peaceful" concerts are probably a little less rough than some rock shows, but they are also being brainwashed in the meantime and do not have the ability to understand the process b/c they are a bunch of rich yuppies who get to go to concerts b/c their parents spoil them and never educated them on the effects of drugs.  They'll all be CEOs one day though and will sit in an office trying figure out a way to reconnect their neurons while their life passes them by and the people who actually paid attention while doing drugs are actually living our lives.

I have seen MMJ 5 times and have not witnessed what is being discussed by some of you.  I was just in Columbus and people were having a great time.  If you are seeing these problems it's b/c you aren't enjoying the show or you are anal and it is simply your perception of what "is happening"...and i think many people are looking at their cell phones b/c they are taking pictures and texting friends about the show.

Yes, you can meet yourself, unless you don't have the ability to alter your reality.  Go read some books on quantum mechanics.

Sorry if any of you think I'm being an ass, I just think it's pathetic for any of you to be tricked by just a few idiots into thinking that MMJ aren't playing peaceful shows anymore.  I was there...I saw good things...you can live in the dark if you want.

BTW, I used to be a liberal too before I understood the stupidity of labels.  You people should be happy these "BROS" are finally listening to good music...that is a positive change...stop trying to be snobs and embrace the revolution.  The only people I still meet who act like music snobs (like I did years ago) are people who have issues they haven't gotten over and want to make fun of less intelligent people to feel better.  You are being as bad as the people you are making fun of.  I don't like frat boys either, but it makes me happy they are finally "getting it"

sticky's "age of the bros" has nothing to do with more people "getting it".  in fact, it's the exact opposite.  he's talking about the kind of people that go to a show for all the wrong reasons.  they have no idea that mmj is possibly THE greatest motherfucking band of all time.  they throw glowsticks @ the band & chatter incessantly throughout the sets.  in other words - they're totally disrespectful towards the band.

i wouldn't call that snobbery.  don't we all try to protect the things we love?

Exactly. At Monsters of Folk, people were screaming "ONE BIG HOLIDAY" during Bermuda Highway. that's not exactly "Getting it"

im with you songdiver...why are people racking on other people liking good music?  People get their panties in a wad and go on rants that Vampire Weekend is over rated and Passion Pit is annoying.  Well I'll tell you one thing - I would much rather have bands like MGMT, KOL and John Legend rule the pop charts than Stained, Limp Biskit and Creed like we had a couple years ago.

Remember - everyone liked the Stones and everyone liked Stevie Wonder.  Just because all walks of life (pumelers, "fans", idiots, drunks and superfans) enjoy the same kind of music, doesn't mean there's a bad thing going on.

I am so happy...so so happy, quality music is finally becoming popular again.

Question: any old timers out there? Dead heads, Stone's fans? Im sure people bitched about the same kinda shit when The Hells Angles started attending Dead shows....
God damn those shaky knees.
