I've been listening a lot to soul, lately. The Four Tops and Smokey Robinson, to be exact. They don't make 'em like that anymore. Or, wait, they do. Well, ehm, apart from My Morning Jacket with "It still moves", they don't make 'em like that anymore...  :)

Hey O,  You'll like this.  I pulled out all of my R.E.M. records yesterday.  I have everything all the way through Green...Even a couple of 12" singles (superman etc..). Anyway...It's funny you mentioned motown. Being a longtime resident of the motorcity I always have at least one group on the turntable. Right now it's the Supremes "where did our love go?" album...Man...I would love to here jim and the boys do that song! ;D

lfish

Hey, if you have some time and you don't know to what you want to listen at, try the album the brooklyn side from the bottle rockets.  Those guys rock big time and the lyrics are good too.

Yeah, they should definitely cover some Motown songs. In fact, I think that the label 'soul' is the label that fits best on their music. Just as it does on R.E.M.'s music. It's that feeling you can't describe and I feel it with Motown and I feel it with MMJ and R.E.M. as well...

spinning the rural american gothic vibe lately... with a few flashbacks along the way.  Inundated in sound; a little distortion, a little romance, a lot of patience.

I've been trying for a year now to find the record "Me and Mr. Ray" of that band, for it has the song "You're the one lee" on it, that I found on the internet once and I totally love it... www.boudisque.nl has some stuff of them, but not that record. Wich record do you recommend, Riny?
