QuoteOh, and ofcourse I know Type O Negative! I've always found them the most hilarious band on the planet. I love to read interviews with Peter Steele... He rules.
Wow, I am the only person out of roughly 400 who have heard of them!!! And then I suddenly know 4 people who like them never mind know them!! ;D
I'm now on such a high, and it's not good cos it's 8:15 in the morning :P!
I have to agree with you on the whole hilarious thing... they so are and Peter Steele is the best out of them!! *dances round IT room with friends chasing her trying to calm her down* Um, gtg now but cool!! woohoo!!

Type o negative rocks. I'm not so fond of their first nazi-periode (as a matter of fact, I don't want anything to do with it), just because of their fascist lyrics, but then they realized they went the wrong way and came up with the beautifull albums bloody kisses and october rust.  But for me bloody kisses is their best album. And peter steele is indeed a funny looking guy. A giant with only a very little head on his massive body. Unfortunately, I never had the occasion to see them perform live.

Okkervil River, "Down the River of Golden Dreams". Best record I've heard in a long time. The missing link between Will Oldham and Neutral Milk Hotel.

people took the nazi thing way too seriously, its pretty much pete's humor and the buttons he likes to the push. i mean he makes that song and all of a sudden he's chanting on the next album on how he's gonna lead the black people to their domination of the earth. he's just a naturally funny guy.

I'm in a weird place, musically. I've been listening to -
the Stills, Outkast, Caesar's, the Jam, the Spencer Davis Group, Ima Robot, Built To Spill, the Stockholm Monsters, the Dandy Warhols, the Lyres, and the Pastels. I also really like Jim's version of "Time of the Season/Spooky!" Anyone hear the new Strokes single? Not bad, not bad t'all. But it's nothing new from them. It doesn't sound like they've progressed at all. To hold my attention, band's have to evolve. I'm not sure the Strokes can do it. But I think the Shins can!
You came around when I needed you, now I'm up to my neck in you.

The new Strokes album is just boring. nothing new and nothing exciting. Everyone should just buy another copy of It Still Moves :D

No joke about that, bro....you'd think that one of the late night guys would hook Lucero up....anyway, they seem to be picking up momentum.  We only are a couple of hours away from their home base, and WE have trouble getting their CD's in stock!

Ok....quick story about Lucero.  We had them here (Batesville, Arkansas), playing at a restored movie theater downtown.  We've had a lot of great acts here..(RL Burnside, Derek Trucks Band)..and we had been wanting Lucero here for a long time!

Anyway, the guys did not disappoint, played an AMAZING show and hung with the crowd afterwards.  They had a small box of merch...really not enough to sell, so they THREW it out to the crowd!!! I scored a Lucero T-shirt and Tennessee on vinyl......

Anyway, they are a great bunch of guys and worthy of a lot more press than they are getting.

NOTE:  If you catch Lucero live....GRAB THE ATTIC TAPES!!! This CD is only available at the shows.

Peace out~

Hey cereal,
Your the first guy who mentionned the gathering in his list.  This band rocks and they have a couple of very good albums. I find mandylion one of their better albums. It always gets me in the mood.  Weird that this band is known in Arkansans.

My girlfriend just got me a tape with some stuff on it by Richard Cheese... Anyone know that guy? He's a bit like Mambo Kurt, doing stupid jazz versions of metal songs... His version of Chop Suey is great.  ;D

Richard: "Why did you leave the keys upon the table?"
Choir:"You wanted to!"
Richard:"WHY did you leave the keys upon the table?"
Choir:"You wanted to!"
Richard:"WHY DID YOU LEAVE THE KEYS UPON THE TAHAHABLE?"
(pause)
Choir (mumbling):"Well, you said you wanted to..."

one step ahead. Picked up The Attic Tapes when they were through here 6 months ago or so. Great stuff. The new album is reakky good too and i'm digging on the bonus disk of demos and live tracks that came with it.

They should open for the Jacket. that would just be a kick ass show.

Ok...true story.

I used to be a confirmed metalhead...totally into the bands on Century Media, Relapse, and Metal Blade records.  A while back, we went to Milwaulkee to check out Relapse's Metalfest....and at that show, one band changed my entire outlook on music.

THE GATHERING.  We were just kinda wandering around out there between groups, and spotted The Gathering on stage.  We stood there and watched, heard and saw Anneke, and instantly fell in love.  Great band, awesome singer.  I highly recommend all their CD's to anyone.

Personally, I think they are one of the most underrated bands on the planet.

Lacuna Coil is another one of my favorites....

Peace out..

What a trip. I know the band and I didn't get a copy of the new CD with the bonus disc..... ::)

Ben told me that he probably had a few more copies lying around or he'd just burn me one.

I'm trying to get our local promoters to book Lucero and MMJ...maybe something will get started there, you never know.....
