So I assume that by tomorrow we'll all have heard it, so I don't feel morally obligated to keep my thoughts under wraps at this point. It's instrumental, and I can't say I'm surprised. I figured it may be another part in the Self-Hypnosis series. It's too bad its just an instrumental that will never get any real support because it is BAD ASS. With lyrics to make it accessible it couldve been their best song since Smokin'.
There is a nice surprise that everyone will recognize in the last minute or so of it.
Can't wait to hear it. I'm both excited and a bit disappointed. I was looking forward to a full new song from MMJ but hey anything new is good with me! Crossing my fingers the record store by me will have this tomorrow. I was basically just told, show up at 9am with no guarantee they would have it.

I'm too excited...I'm going to be in portland tomorrow, I need to locate a good record store, otherwise I'll have to wait until I get back in Georgia.
The use of that outro makes me wonder if this song is from the era of ISM, though the recording is likely more recent.

Yeah, the outro was a bit of a surprise. Perhaps it's just a function of the re-mixing that Jim is into these days. It woke me up after being put to sleep by what came before. I've changed my tune in the past after the first listen to MMJ tunes but this simply doesn't carry the uniqueness and creativity that I'm used to in this band. Thankfully, It Makes No Difference, is a real gem.
So it's instrumental? I gotta say that's a tad disappointing :embarrassed: I guess I was just looking forward to a song that i could sing along with at the top of my lungs. But once I hear it, I'm sure I'll love it just like everything else
I'll listen to whatever they throw my way but I get the feeling the song will be a non-event in the MMJ lore when all is said and done. Enjoyable listen but I dont' see it winning any votes on Jacket Bracket anytime soon.
I wanna hear it!
I'm loving this track, it has 'It Still Moves' written all over it! I broke down and purchased the vinyl even though I don't have access to a record player. I must say a digital download to an unreleased track and another recording of my favorite Band tune was well worth the 6 bucks. My local record store in Bowling Green, Ky had a surplus of these vinyls and I would be more than happy to send it to any MMJ lovers on here who couldn't get their hands on it. I'm looking forward to getting the Port Chester official bootleg and am hoping this sweet little tune makes its way into the setlist!
Can someone upload this song? After getting shut out at the record store I'm dying to hear this track.
You are my favorite band in the world and your serve this b-side up for a record I drove 45min. each way to get? Not to cool, in by book. :undecided:
I will admit I've played side A at least 5 times tonight and it made me cry at least twice times out of those five....so There's that.
Move on Up/Phone Went West instrumental version? Me likey!!!
i love this song so hard and yeah, the outro  and i say who knows what the future brings for this song ... it could grow and possibly develop some lyrics or more likely and quite tasty, make for some badass segues between our favorite songs.

it gets into my head every morning right now
it's a pretty awesome track.. horns and MMJ = epic.
Neither of the independent record stores in Memphis had release. I was so bummed. I can't wait to hear this song, though!

That's pretty fucking cool! That Tom responded and that it's from ISM sessions!
For the record, I am really liking this tune.
Would be nice to catch it live at Port Chester.

Me too, Jeff! Let's get scosby on it. If he can't get it played, no one can.
Sounds like Jerry shows up on guitar at 2:55 in.

super happy he responded. great guys in a great band making great songs.
I second that emotion--I can think of few bands who really seem to try to stay in touch with their fans. Big thanks to the whole MMJ family (band, crew, etc.)!
Also, I guess that means it's the Memphis Horns on Grab A Body, right? They were the horn section on EMR, so I guess it stands to reason. This is a really nice picture of the soul influence coming in when MMJ were being labeled the saviors of Southern rock. Love it.

The back of the insert for the record reads, "Horns by Willie Mitchell And His Memphis Horns". So, you're absolutely correct.
have to say with repeated listens over the long weekend this has struck me as a great track even without lyric lyrics. It's souful and relaxes me. loving it.
Was lucky enough to snag 1 of 2 copies that I could find in D.C. (out of around 5 record stores). Love the instrumentals - I hope this is a sign MMJ is embracing their Jam Band-ness a little more. They seem to be doing that more and more each tour which I love - i know some of you are incline to disagree but I love the music odysseys the band takes us on.
also, can someone do us all the honor of making the track digital? Unfortunately I don't have the hardware to do so.
Did you not get the dl code, Painter?

The vinyl should have come with a download card, which gives you 320 kbps mp3 of IMND, HM, and GaB.
So cool to see that outro wasn't really meant for ISM track but was on another track! How many other tracks are out there......
I need to listen to this song. Is there anyway to hear it without buying the vinyl?
I am so bummed I was not able to score this Friday or anywhere over the weekend. I live in Chicago how could I mess this up? lol
I'm really curious to hear Grab A Body, the descriptions are driving me crazy in anticipation!

Hearing the IWSYS part at the end just made me wish they'd release a 45RPM version of It Still Moves. Who else would go bat shit for that? I know i would. :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy:
maybe a hint at a 10th anniversary edition of ISM ?
My Morning Jacket - Grab a Body (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AOQcgjo2C0#)
Wow, thank you both for posting "Grab a Body", I'm diggin' the horns and yeah the end takes me back to ISM days! Now I just need to get my hands on the download of these songs.
I really hope they pull "Grab A Body" out at one the NY or NYE shows!

Not gonna lie, gang. This is a contender to be among my all time favorite MMJ songs. I like everything about it. Pretty close to my definition of perfect. In fact, I am going to leave the house tomorrow and go on a mission to find it. Yep. Going to leave the house, gang. I don't do that for just any ol' top 40 tune.
Does anyone hear Black Sabbath around the :30 mark and again at the 1:50 mark? the geetahs get angry for about ten seconds and I like that
then you get the funky wahs wahs and them horns, oh yes
then throw in the equivalent of musical ecstasy/sleepy opiate/all is right in the world outtro and you've a great song--simple, yet unique
wonder how many more great tracks they have just laying around for us...
I'm diggin it! I really like the instrumental stuff...all the horns kinda sounds like a lettuce tune to me
i didnt see the download card, crap. looks like im gonna be digging through my waste basket.
Man I can't believe some are dissappointed by an instrumental b-side from the ISM sessions. This songs is amazing and has that unique ISM barn-vibe we are not likely to hear again unless more outtakes become available. Plus this song may have been the genesis of that sweet outro. I got so nostalgic I almost cried!
I vote Grab a Body could serve as a tasty NYE opener
Grab A Body>Easy Morning>Dancefloors a nice lil ISM medley!?!
Thank you for posting the audio! I didn't know the vinyl came with dl's, so I missed out. :undecided: I am a fan of instrumentals so I look forward to immersing myself in this new song.
Anyone else hear a little Zappa in this? Love it.
I think I'm in love.

Angry Geetahs! Yes. I love that too! We should have a thread of songs that surprise you part way in with some angry geetah! Jeremy's Storm by Tame Impala comes to mind. Another instrumental coincidently.
I wish I could figure out a way to edit out the outro from I Will Sing You Songs and sandwich this tune between IWSYS and Easy Morning Rebel, Run Thru, Rollin' Back, etc... Then again can a guys mind be too blown??

I got more of a Phone vibe towards the end. Ye know, when they slow it down in the middle before going into that always extravagant ending jam
The best moments of this Jam were either realized fully on ISM or later on with other albums, this has no buisness seeing the light of day...It makes me think they have NO SONGS that didn't make the cut on any previous albums. It's a shame this is a b-side....Pearl Jam had Yellow Ledbetter as a b-side and we get this slop? I drink the mmj coolaid as much as anyone, but this is just sad.
To counterpoint sweatboard, this song was a revelation for me. ISM was my intro to MMJ and remains my favorite album of theirs. To hear anything else from that era moves me like nothing else for some reason. I had to buy this damn record on ebay since it was all sold out in my area, and I expected the amazingness of It Makes No Difference, but came away from the whole release with this as my favorite.
Another 2 cents.

I disagree. This is probably the most important musical release since Stairway to Heaven.
