I probably havent had more than 10 or so different pumpkin ales, but its the best Ive ever had.

Possibly my favorite DFH brew period

Daaaaaag.  I saw it at Whole Foods last week and had a whole "needs/wants" conversation in my head in which I talked myself out of buying it.   ;D

Next time!

Yes, it's very good.  It's my wife's favorite fall seasonal.  Me, I can't choose just one.

I HATE the DFH Punkin.

However, I'm biased. I generally do not like heavily flavored beers and I feel the DFH is overboard on the nutmeg.

On the flip side, Fisherman's Pumpkin Stout is my new favorite pumpkin. It's well balanced, a hint of pumkin, and more like a brown ale than a stout.

The picture was taken at the Oktoberfest Fair in Munich (September 19th)  of my wife and I each enjoying a litre of Paulaner Helles at one of the brewery's beer halls; we finally found a seat on the second day of Oktoberfest (the halls were even more packed on the opening day). Paulaner Helles is excellent pale ale, but not as good as Augustiner.

I'll keep an eye out for it....For me, this is the perfect time of year to go to places that sell singles and get a mixed sixer of pumpkin ales and octoberfests.

Dont know if there are any of those places around here though. Might have to do that back home

Any other Pumpkin recommendations?

Nice.  I've heard good things about the Southern Tier Pumking too.  Might just have to have a pumpkin beer taste-off...   ;D

Great pic, Jaimoe!  I'd love to go to Oktoberfest one day.

Can anyone recommend a good brewery in Philadelphia?  I've already been directed to Monk's Cafe.

Nice pitcher of ale there Jaimoe. Mug schmug, go with the pitcher size.

The only negative with the beer halls at the Oktoberfest fairgrounds is that smoking is allowed, and the Germans like to smoke... a lot.

Nice pic. J! Partaking in some Sierra Nevada Pale to give myself a little bit of a break from so much IPA and it is sooo well balanced...

It is like a slice of Pie. Too much for me, but at 9% ABV, you can't go wrong either. Southern Tier does flavors the best out of anyone. My buddy LOVES it

Headed to Chicago for moderate/mass consumption of Goose Island IPA draft (I can get bottles at home).  Any other suggestions for Chicago beer/micros/brewpubs?

mjkoehler

Goose Island has their own place. Apparently the foods decent. There brews are certainly yum.

I went to the Goose Island BrewPub on Clyborn a couple of years ago.  The food was good, but the beer was better.  Bourbon County Brand Stout is a meal and a half!  I am sure I will hit it up again...
