Are these out of 4 or 5?

Only seen Benji Button, but I'd be surprised if I like it either more than it.  I heard from a lot of people Gran Torino sucked outside of Clint, but everyone here seems to love it. hmm.....

So i'll preface this by saying myself and a couple friends decided to go down to the drive-in to see the Hangover on Saturday. Love the drive-in, but havent been there since last summer, and only went there once last year. I think nearly every time I've gone, its been a weekday though. So the movies start around 930PM (when its basically dark), and we get there at about 855PM. We think we got there plenty early, but the screen that was showing The Hangover followed by Taking of Pelham 123 was SOLD OUT. I'll say it again - we got there a half hour early for a movie that was released over 3 weeks ago, and it was sold out. And by sold out, Im estimating each screen's lot holds around 600 cars, and that is a low estimate if anything. So needless to say, I was  :o

So that left us with seeing The Proposal, Year One, or Transformers (which maybe even more surprising was it wasnt sold out). If you read my post from a couple weeks ago about how Year One looks like hot dogshit in a fresh cut lawn, you know we picked Transformers.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Drive-in's are great for comedies and horrors, but a special effects action-fest like Transformers is probably the worst movie to see at this type of venue. Anyhow, I still enjoyed it. I thought the first one was better overall, but I did think the action scenes and special effects were even better in this one - and the new transformers that were introduced were pretty badass. Almost all of the reviews Ive read said this movie had no plot/story/development, so maybe I went in expecting nothing, but I thought the storyline was on par with the first movie (which I thought had a pretty good one). It was weird though, because the first 45 minutes-1 hour had mostly action and very little story, whereas the next hour had a lot of story development and not much action (or much less comparatively).

However, I thought in a few areas this movie just tried too hard or became too obvious and turned me off (or on). The comedy was attempted much more in this one, and while some is genuinely funny (most thanks to LeBeauf's parents), the vast majority of it seems really forced and isnt funny. A good amount comes from LeBeauf's new college roommate, who for some reason is along with him for the whole movie and not only is usually not funny, but extra baggage and distraction. I wont complain about Megan Fox's first few screen shots, but its basically her putting her ass right in your face followed by undressing in the next scene she was in. It was nice, but for a PG-13 movie aimed at kids younger than that, it felt out of place and dirty in a bad way (like actually bad, not so bad its cool, but maybe Im just a perv and focused on her too much  ::)). Finally, the thing that really rubbed me wrong was how they gave some transformers accents. I havent seen the first one in awhile, but can anyone refresh my memory if any transformers in that one did or did not have accents??? I certainly dont remember any having accents, but if they did, they werent this obvious and extensive. There was one transformer with a British accent, one with a New York accent, and two with a black dialect. REALLY?!!?! As I was watching, I kept saying to myself, "youve got to be kidding me?!". Not only was it ridiculously cheesy and stupid, but sometimes it was even offensive. One part I particularly remember was when the "black" transformers said they couldn't read.

I had a good time and overall thought it was entertaining if anything, but despite having a decent story, the movie's blatant attempts at comedy, trendiness, and giving some transformers accents bring it to average at best IMO. A lot of parts of this movie seemed forced or stupid, and I dont remember anything like that in the first one, and here its just detracts from the movie. Its saving grace is the special effects and action, and regardless of the rest of the movie, that still probably makes it worthwhile to go see it at the IMAX or movie theater. I might actually again if I can get to a matinee

Out of 4 - no half hands up and down

Benjamin Button just didn't hit me the way I expected it to.  In fact I found it rather tedious in parts but all in all OK.

Gran Torino was a very entertaining movie.  Was some of the acting bad?  Yes.  Were the Hmong gangsters believable?  No.  Was the plot predictable?  Yes.  Nonetheless I found it to be funny with a strong moral purpose behind it.

Just got back from seeing this.  Ehhh, too much filler.  I mean really?  So little Bumblebee and it took 2 hours to resurrect Optimus?  The action sequences were good and it was worth seeing on the big screen but somehow didn't meet my expectations.

So pretty much in a lot fewer words you feel the same way.  ;D

Outside of the action, this felt a lot different than the first one. Even that one was pretty long, but it never dragged and yeah, for me the filler in Revenge of the Fallen really made the movie less enjoyable.

what are your thoughts about the accents they gave some transformers??!?

Needless to say there was scattered awkward laughter during the "I don't read" part.  I don't see the point of the accents and I found it ridiculous that the twins clowns were the most prominent Autobots in the entire film.

ditto.

I will say though, there was a group of black people 2 cars to our right, and they were pretty quiet for the most part, but whenever there was a mean roundhouse kick to some Deceptacon face, and when Optimus got the "extra help" at the end, or basically during almost all of the various action scenes, they were always just like "Ohhh shit!!!", "Aw, no way!!", "No he didnt!!" and we couldnt help but laugh at them. Even the black family to our right was laughing at them  ;D

Its other people at the movies that can make even non-funny stuff at a movie funny and as a whole more enjoyable. I definitely still plan on watching The Hangover at the Drive-in. Should be awesome.

Girl gets taken.  Dad gets her back.  There's some drama in the middle.

Does Super High Me count?  I know its not a movie, more of a documentary but, otherwise hilarious and informative.  Doug Benson is great in it and seeing that smoking a little weed is not so bad after all.  Well, not really a little weed, you'll see if u have not seen it yet.
Yikes!

although its very good, last crusade is probably my least favorite of the real Indiana Jones'. Out of them, Id say he's most badass in Temple of Doom.

Blade Runner fo sho though. Its almost like a role you wouldnt expect to see Ford take.

I'll add The Fugitive to his badass list.

Hard to believe he's about to turn 77 in less than a week  :o
