QuoteTaking photos does not bother me, but this girl held her big ass sprint evo up for 5 minutes at a time. You couldn't see past the damn thing. She was taking TERRIBLE pictures, she couldn't even see the thing, she just held it up and kept snapping photos. It was seriously aggravating.

@whoever said that she was taking so many photos cause she was having a good time and trying to capture it: Give me a break. Taking 500 photos on two different cameras does not = having the time of your life. It was unreal annoying.

I am in Nashville, working, not able to attend any of these shows. I have been seeing MMJ play live since Johnny Quaid was in the band and would absolutely love to be there to have all those memories come flooding back.

So, you have a problem with someone taking a lot of "terrible" pictures in front of you while MMJ plays At Dawn (1 of my all time favorite albums by anyone) in its entirety w/Johnny Quaid. Sorry, I cannot relate to your pain.  :-/

thank you tracy. i feel the same way reading all these posts. there should be no complaints from those who are fortunate to be there

I don't have a problem with snapping photos. I do get annoyed with people who insist on video taping with cell phones, especially upfront. You can't honestly think that your cell phone is going to really capture anything more than static and bright lights.

I liken it to a nice sunset. You can take a lot of pictures for the memories or artistic merit, but you need to stop once in a while and enjoy the show for yourself through your own eyes and not a 3 inch viewfinder.

well i don't want to start this argument, but the iPhone 4 has an HD camera. The video of Cirtutial on youtube that is amazing quality is an iphone 4.

So do you think she was having a shitty time and that's why she chose to keep taking pictures?

All I was trying to say is that she was having a good time and you were annoyed by her taking photos. If her photo-taking blocked your line of sight, you could easily have asked her to stop :). If it wasn't blocking your line of sight, then what's the real problem?

Taking a ton of photos and videos can be a tad annoying at times - I get it. But nobody complains when we see a ton of photos and videos show up online after the show.

That's fine, but the vast majority of cell phone video consists of indistinguishable sound and indistinguishable lights. I don't think anyone should be expected to suck it up and deal with someone holding a phone/brightly lit screen in their face, blocking their view of a concert they paid good money for simply because someone else wants to have the proof they were there for every moment of that concert.

As with all things in life, it's fine in moderation. But I've been to shows where moderation is the duration of the cell phone's battery life.

This is also why I don't go on the floor though.

Penny Lane, I am way more handsome than Johnny. I'll send you a few private photos if you'd like...

Good points.

When I go to shows I do my best to not bother people if I'm taking a video or photo.

I don't take videos on my phone because they suck and you can't tell anything anyway. I will take one or two photos on my phone so I can make it a background or something later.

As for my camera, I take some photos, but a majority of the time it's too dark to even make out what's going on. So I don't take a ton of photos with my point and shoot digital camera.

I do, however, take a few videos of songs. I have a small music blog where I post them all and also upload them to youtube. I like having a full song, not just the first 2 minutes or something like that.

Unlike others, I try my hardest to consider everyone around me. When I'm taking a video, I usually keep the camera in front of my face, right underneath my eyesight. So basically what I'm seeing is what's on the camera. The people behind me aren't blocked by the camera - since my head is already blocking them somewhat. I also don't hold the camera in the air cuz that blocks people behind me.

Another thing I notice is that sometimes people in front or next to me will notice I'm taking a video and then try and get out of the way or something. I always tell them "please - don't change anything you were doing. don't let me affect your experience."   I have no problem if they get in front of the screen and block the video for a few seconds because they are dancing.

I like taking videos because I like watching videos on Youtube. I also like to not block anyone or hinder their concert experience in any way.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-video, but there's a difference when you know that video is for the benefit of everyone and it's just your own little digital pile of spit.

For example: LasVegas, or whoever's videos he's posting, are a godsend because I get to listen to PWW right now at work. Same with the Circuital comment from above.

Photos don't bother me as much because they're not really likely to interfere for entire songs and some come out accidentally awesome.

I can confidently say that coming to New York to witness this is the best decision I have ever made in my life!

ralph out of everyone I am most excited for you to be there. This trip for you is probably the longest and most expensive. Being from so far away, you fucking deserve to have the time of your life!

I definitely get what you're saying man. At a Yim show I recorded one song on my iPhone, just so at any moment i can get my phone out and relive that amazing moment. On the other hand, if someone was holding a screen in my face for 25 minutes I would be mad at the distraction. Basically, I'm agreeing with you - moderation.

First night I was up close and my brain was melted. Second night I was with cig smokers who wanted to leave our amazing spots after hacienda to go on the rooftop; I was stuck in the back and it kinda sucked.  I will not be anywhere else but the first five rows or on the balcony from here on out.

Pww was so dope!

I need to sneak some weed in for tomorrow.  _
God damn those shaky knees.

interesting blurb from Chris Robinson on cell phones at shows. I don't like him or his music, but its funny.
