Well Tater...I have 50% Wisconsin blood in me. The Pack are my "other" team. Gotta listen to Mom. So I'll put up a avatar bet with yah.  You want the 3 points? I know you don't want the picture I have in mind  ;D

I would love to see the picture you have in mind, It's all in good fun.  I'm in if you giving 3, depending on the avatar you choose for me.

That picture was great!!  ;D

I'll give you the 3 points! That's how damn confident I am.  ;) I'm part Packer nation now, we have a great team. I actually don't have a picture in mind. I probably should tell you that now before the picture becomes a huge letdown.

All we can do now is look back on the week and say maybe the Jets shenanigans really did work.

I think that's part of my concern, too. That people will think it "worked"; not that the Jets are returning to the title game (returning!) b/c they're a great football team, it's b/c all the jibbering "worked". Then comes the copycat jiberring that will trickle down to the other levels of organized football. Sort of like how Deion Sanders' antics created the likes of TO and Ochocinco.

I don't know, I really don't have a dog in the hunt, but I will be rooting for Hines Ward to win Sunday. Hines Ward...  :-\      Hell, I might even change over to the Jets if they start winning.   ;)

Anyways, I promote some avatar betting with the Jets/Steelers!
Well they're quiet this week.

As for the avatar betting, Headdy already owes me from the regular season game.  I believe I posted a picture and he never switched it.  So I propose a double up for me.  If the Jets win AGAIN, I give u a pic AND a new tagline for a month.  If the Steelers win, u get to bust up my avatar.  Deal? :)

Tracy, it's probably because no one expected them to win. I really don't think anyone had them pegged to beat the Pats this weekend, especially after the beating that they got the last time around.

I mean, I get that. But they beat the Pats earlier in the year and the Pats didn't get out of the first round last year while the Jets went to the title game. Just seems a little odd to be freaking out so much and you're not even to the Super Bowl yet.

Id say mostly because last year the Pats were 10-6 and lost WC weekend, they werent really expected to do much..This year they were clearly the best team in the NFL as Vegas SB odds would show you, and entered the playoffs on an 8 game winning streak - 7 of which were blowouts. Yes the Jets beat them earlier in the year, but I think its fair to say that not only were the Pats playing like an entirely different team since week 2, they literally were noticeably different: who were Danny Woodhead, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, and Rob Gronkowski in week 2? They were bench players and offensive afterthoughts, and Deion Branch wasnt even on the Pats at that point.

That said, Id also say they pushed the celebration a tad far for a game that doesnt even get them to the SB, especially BScott in that interview.

Plus, all that crap Ryan was saying how it was "him v Belechick" but once the game was over he said he got out coached, when I thought it was obvious that he out coached Belechick. It's just bizarre.

Yes, this made absolutely no sense.

Now, not a lot of people thought the Packers weren't going to beat Philly or Atlanta and they laid waste to both of those teams, but you didn't really see the Packers losing their minds after Saturday's game.

Wouldnt agree with this. Both me and Ruckus had the Pack winning each game as stated in the gambling thread. If you look in ESPN's "expert" picks last week, 7 of 9 people picked the Pack to win despite despite playing Matt Ryan at home where he was 20-2. Also, Ryan Grant said before the Bears even won their game that Packer fans should get the Dallas flight plans ready, and he's been hurt since week 1. Thats kind of over the top.

A very lukewarm congrats to you Steelers fans.  I had a lot of issues with that game and I feel for my RThere are so many things to pick apart in a close game like that just as in any Ravens/Steelers matchup.  I give all the credit to the Steelers for making the plays in the seconds half.  Similarly, the Ravens got conservative offensively and Boldin had that HUGE drop in the end zone.  Of course the one thing that affected the outcome that was beyond the Ravens' control was the officiating.  Say what you will but if the roles were reversed, you'd be pretty damn pissed at the two calls in the 4th quarter on Saturday.  The 1st was the holding call that nullified the punt return for a touchdown.  It wasn't holding.  The 2nd was the defensive holding call on the goal line against the Ravens on a RUNNING play!  If that call isn't made, it's a field goal at best.  Regardless, Jarret Johnson was getting mauled on the same play (actually was a holding) and wasn't called.  Game changing calls.

BUT, you guys made the play when it counted Big Ben seems to always do against the Ravens.  Oh well, it's  my turn now and I know you're nervous.  You hoped for the wrong opponent buddy

-That was a big drop by Boldin. That said, you gotta give props to Ike Taylor for holding Boldin to 1 catch for -2 yards in the game as well. He played a hell of a game.

-I dont know how you can say their wasnt a hold on that KR. I thought the holding was blatant and replays show the same thing. He embellished it with a flop at the end, but the holding was clear.

-I dont remember the holding call enough to really comment on it, and I cant find it in any game highlights. Defensive holding isnt called too often though. That said, it ended up being a moot point for the actual game (not gamblers!) as we were clearly in FG range, and BAL never got close to FG range allowing them to theoretically tie it.

If my choice is you or the Pats, of course Im hoping for you guys. Although beating NE would feel much better. We matchup terrible with them. You guys match up with us almost identically to the Ravens except Id say you have better WRs, and the Ravens have a bigger threat out of the backfuield catching passes in Rice. Im surprised only 2 people on ESPN have the Jets winning. I think this will be a pretty close game but Im feeling confident we'll win

Man you guys gotta get off the hate train.  Green is the color of the grass, the leaves, and Whole Foods Markets.  Bart Scott is an idiot.  He likes to play with the media.  Otherwise, what did the team do?  A backflip?  Yet Ward (though I'd love him on my team) is perennially considered one of the dirtiest players in the league, Harrison the head shot specialist and Roethlisberger?  You're rooting for them to win again?  The most obnoxious fans in the country except for maybe Cowboys fans?
::)

Ward being considered one of the dirtiest players is a joke. The guy doesnt take plays off and actually blocks unlike any WR thats ever played. We'll see how dirty players think he is when he gets voted into the HOF. I have no problem with Silverback, he even says he hits to hurt but not injure players (ie just knock them out of the game), whether its the head or otherwise. Your safety Eric Smith has probably twice as many headshots - where that is clearly what he's going for - on defenseless players as Silverback does.

How are we the most obnoxious fans? Because we have the most fans of any team in the country so therefore since every team has generally, oh 15% of their fans who are obnoxious, we win that one? Steelers fans arent more obnoxious than any other teams, theres just more of em.

You can't measure how many "fans" a team has. It all depends on how well a team is doing. Trust me, there were a lot more Saints "fans" this year than ever before. I think the most obnoxious fans are easily the bandwagon fans anyways. I have met plenty of Yankee or Cowboys fans who have never gone to a pro game (throw Red Wings and Lakers fans in there too).

I guess I was wrong about Hines Ward not being dirty. If the Jets are calling him dirty, then clearly he must be a dirty player!!  ;D  Bunch of whining about how he hits guys in the back all the time yet I cant think of even a handful of times he's been flagged for a block in the back.

http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/news/story?id=6046723

The Jets corner allowed that Ward's hits "can be" dirty. When such hits occur, Cromartie suggests that players "grab [him] by the throat and choke [him]."

Bunch of classy players over there that make you want to root for the Jets!!

C'mon.  I don't think it's just because of blocks in the back.  You can't deny that Ward is a dirty player and I'm not talking about the glorified vids of him decleating Bart Scott, Ray Lewis and Ed Reed.  He constantly blocks to the whistle and sometimes after but likes to either lead with his head or go low on people not looking.  Say what you will but some of us look at it differently.  I think he's a great, gritty player but I think he crosses the line.

As for Cromartie, who cares.  What has he done on the field to attempt to injure someone else.  His vocabulary is limited to approximately 100 words so his words will tend to come out a little harsh.

Say what you will but I don't think any of these plays are legit.

When I think of a "dirty" player, I think of someone who purposefully tries to injure someone...None of those plays in that clip strike me as dirty. Ward has had a few helmet to helmet hits over the years that I might call dirty, but what DB or LB hasnt?? Overall I dont think he's a dirty player. If this were hockey, yeah Id call those hits dirty, but this is football - they have more protection, and there's a reason they get right up from all those hits in that clip and 95% of the hits in Ward's career. Its because they arent that big of a deal. More than anything, I think the hits just get under the skin of every other team in the NFL (which is what he wants), and there's not really any other way to describe him but dirty. To make another analogy to hockey, he's more of an "agitator" than a "goon".

In that article I linked, even Rex Ryan said he respects Ward and thinks he justs finishes plays and goes til the whistle.
