I'll start.

I have never been so high for so long in my life

edit: fun fact: there were THREE NBP (never been played) original songs - If it smashes down, if all else fails and I just wanted to say.  (BH, can you confirm?)  They may never be played again....

MrWhippy

Fan-freakin-tastic

Band was consistently on fire and inspired and met some great people.

Saw all but the It Still Moves show.  If I had to rank them it would be:

1.  Tennessee Fire
2.  At Dawn
3.  Z
4.  Evil Urges

They were all great shows, but the performance of The Tennessee Fire was the biggest revelation for me due to getting to hear lots of stuff for the first time and how amazing it was to hear MMJ 2010 perform that material.

The Evil Urges encore segment might have been the most musically solid of the shows, but the TTF and At Dawn encore segments both had a huge WTF factor.

I'm so in denial of the fact that today is when reality sets back in.
My heart can't wait to meet you on the other side.

darkglow

i wont even try to rank the shows, as it all seems like one continuous concert to me.

but the rendition of steam engine changed the way i look at the world forever, just like how you people have.

Impossible to articulate!  There is so much to say, and I am still trying to come back to reality....i haven't ever had a week like this in my entire life, and it fed my soul, restored my faith in humanity, and absolutely, positively rocked my motherfuckin' panties off!

Thank you to all of the forum members....Bob and I have been to loads of concerts in our (long) lives, but we have never ever experienced the warmth, generosity, fun, kindness, and rampant badassery as we did this week.

Cannot wait to see you all again! XOXO

Oh and ps -- Bob and I were driving down 55th after McGee's, and as usual he is investigating the scene and wanted to drive past the back of the venue.  Well, guess what????

we saw patrick hailing a cab;

tommy waiting for lp (Bob reached out his window and shook his hand)

and bo texting someone (and yes he was with a lovely lady)as he was about to cross the street.

we gave each one a proper hello and thank you for an amazing week...they think we are stalkers! but they were super sweet as always.

Regret:  I had on the tshirt that chode made, and I should have jumped out and showed it to Patrick :) But then, I had a dream that I did get to show him and he LOVED it!  I am sure he would have.

it's a good thing those are the few details you can recollect

el_chode

My only regret was being a shadow!

Unreal. I can't rank, but can only give superlatives.

TTF was the best album performance
AD had the best Encore
ISM had the most energy
Z was the most entertaining
EU felt the most like an MMJ show

By the end of Highly Suspicious, my friend who had never seen them before leaned over and said "from now on, you add +1 whenever you buy tickets". By the end of the show he said, "you know me and Phish, and it is hard for me to say this so I'm not, but that might have had more energy than Phish. They definitely did Sweet Nuthin better"

Also, Carl's song was beautiful with the whole band. I sort of hope he gets to feature himself on the next album as well. After all, when they gave Keith control, the Stones gave us Happy

What an amazing week, I think I levitated during the whole ISM show. Jim has talked about when he is in the zone, he starts a show hits a chord opens his eyes and the show is over, that's what this week felt like for me. Too many great moments that rocked my soul. To see the giddy smiles on everyone and espc the band was truly special. Great moment was seeing Johnny lovingly look down at Carl during carried away, true class act. Jim's little boy, giddy leg kicks from the ground last night said it all

Thank you Pennylane for your gracious hosting, have the best time next Friday, I hope it is filled with more amazing moments for you and a pickle.

Thank you to Trish and Bob, the nicest couple who need to go to New Orleans this year for Jazz Fest.

Ruckus you had the best sh*&t eating grin to dance next to during the shows

Couple from San Diego, hope to see you out west, You are good peeps

Rail folks, it was nice to look out and see you in full appreciation of your rail dedication

Krispy thank you for the treats, better than betty crocker, hope you get home

My brain is fried so I apologize to names I have forgot to mention, coolest Dad ever thank you for sharing music moments last night till 4am, have a great time in Kentucky!

I forgot to mention Hot Fun in the Summertime, Tom singing .... that was deft. a highlight, made me giggle.

How was my week?  Well every night started with meeting fellow forum members in line at T 5.......lots of hugs and warm greetings and good conversation....lots of love....... music was incredible.......at several points during the week it felt like I was being pulled into the air and off the floor........the crowd around us was amazing......all positive, passionate, soulful rocking folks........met some great people during the week.....too many to list and don't want to leave anyone out......not even sure of all the names...........Love to you all....Bob

atrain

Went to all 5 shows.  Each one was absolutely incredible.  It was like being on tour with MMJ for a week...and I'm exhausted from it!  Heard some incredible albums, amazing covers, and got my daily potassium on Z.

Being from NYC I only regret that this epic event was at Terminal 5.  Terrible venue, the crowd couldn't shut up during the slow songs and the ambient noise of moron's trying to talk over the music almost ruined the songs.  They also seemed to oversell the venue which seemed to turn some fans aggressive.  If we're lucky enough to ever have this happen again PLEASE have it at any other venue but T5.

The 4 new songs and Carl's song on Evil Urges night sounded extremely promising.  If thats any sign of what's to come I really can't wait.  Great stuff!!!

mahg33ta

Well, that certainly blew away my already high expectations.

As I posted in another thread, I felt like I was at My Morning Jacket fantasy camp for a week.   Surrounded by other fans at every show, we lived n breathed the band.

I'd say At Dawn was the night I most enjoyed as I heard many songs I had not heard and love.   ISM is my favorite album and was probably my "favorite" show if that difference makes sense.    At one point I turned to Sean Riley and said "we still have Run Thru, Rollin Back, and Steam Engine".   What an embarrasment of riches that album is.   I thought the band was not QUITE as on for Z  - but hey, I'm talking the difference between A+++ and A+.   Jimmy seemed a little more out of it, and his conversations were little more than "how you doing?" (until the whole George Michael / bananas speech was was hysterical)

I also had the huge stroke of luck to stay at the same hotel as the band.    It was an extra thrill to see the boys puttering around during the day.   I never mentioned this to anyone during the week nor did I post here about it, as I wanted to respect the band's privacy.   But seeing the boys go about their business, leaving for soundchecks, little interactions like shaking Tom's hand or riding the elevator with Patrick and telling him "run thru rocked last night" made the trip extra special.    In general I was surprised that the band, or at least a few of them, are a lot less nocturnal than I imagined the life of a band to be.  (like up n around in the lobby at 9:30 am getting coffee).
My wife had dinner in the hotel restaurant one night (I was already at the show) and I got the text from her "Jim is having dinner at the table next to me 6 feet away!".  She also had a long conversation one night with Linda and her summary to me was "I wish Linda lived in Boston!"

And of course - meeting so many of the forum members, and seeing those I'd met on previous travels- that's another highlight that will last.   What a bunch of crazy, cool, interesting, generous, friendly people!

How was my week? Insane, beautiful, wonderful, memorable.

A few highlights:

-The music/energy of the band/hearing all those songs and only one repeat.
-Standing with The Steam Engine during all 5 nights and having a blast.  :-*
-The At Dawn poster.
-Early morning giggles with ALady.
-The dude from the video who had his panties rocked off...
-Pennylane and bluesky acting as wonderful hostesses in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
-Where to Begin
-Watching Drunk History.
-Bill Murrayed
-Watching Carl, who seemed ON FIRE for the 2nd half of the week and jammed around that stage like he owned the place.
-Johnny Y as a breath of fresh air and renewed energy on Saturday night after an exhausting week.
-The international folks who came from far away and if they were jet-lagged, it didn't show.
-York Peppermint Patties are a great alternative to teeth brushing.  ;D
-And finally, I feel like the luckiest gal because I got to see old friends and meet new ones (for life). You are a generous, kind, happy, fun group of people and I can't wait to share memories with you again someday.

special week. special band. special fans.

i cannot remember the last time i enjoyed a week this much.  way too many highlights to mention and too many wonderful people to name.

weird to admit but i enjoyed hanging out with you folks before, during and sometimes after the shows as much as i enjoyed the shows and that says alot because i know i wasn't shy about enjoying the shows.

too many people to name but all you groupies who were at mcgees or getting on line at 4:00 and living at the rail came to feel like family. nice to know there are other crazies with a touch of ocd who NEEDED to get the poster or NEEDED to be on the rail.  Dancing and high-5 ing all-week long  (and "all night long") with residents of so many states and countries just felt right.

it's almost ok if this week is never repeated because it will never be forgotten.  a truly wonderful moment in time.

i had big expectations for this week but the reality of it exceeded even my wildest dreams.  each show was unique. special versions of favorite songs and renditions of others which highlighted how great and talented this band is.  who else can cover, the wide range of artists they did.  Bananas, nanas.

I'll certainly miss all the 5 nighters and others who i enjoyed conversations with on-line.  You east coast folks I will look forward to seeing when the next tour opens and to my new friends from Colorado, Oregon, Tennesee, Alabama, California, Chicago, Baltimore, Oklahoma, New Hampshire, Florida, Virginia, Maryland and beyond-- thanks for sharing this unbelievable moment in time.

A special shout out of thanks to the wonderful Ms. Penny Lane for organizing so many great things and for being the personification of all things good that MMJ means to me.
was some shakin' and some record playin'

Before I crash for the next 78 hours, I need to retract my last post and say that this video sums of my week. It encompasses my mixed emotions and out of body experience that occurred Monday-early Sunday morning, mixed with a brief period of absolute frustration when I ate that pretzel and roamed around the kitchen looking for water:

Sounds like a really cool hotel experience!  You handled it well! I would have been FREAKING out.  I think I need to learn boundaries :)
See ya at the next one!

Perfect ending to a perfect week:
Pulling up to Terminal 5 at JFK, and walking in only to hear Careless Whisper playing overhead  :D
