The mocks I just looked at had him going 13, 13, and 16 which seems about right and would be reasonable to trade up from 18. Walterfootball.com actually has us taking Rolando McClain who I might prefer over Haden actually, but I dont see McClain falling to us.

I didnt really see Tate play very much, but his combine numbers were very good so I surmise that is why he's slated as a late 1st. Walterfootball actually has the Jets taking him. I think he could be a great #3 WR to Cotchery & Edwards, but I would think the Jets might have a bigger need?

Really?! Youre not sure? I think he instantly becomes your #1 WR.  I dont know why you wouldnt be ecstatic about this deal. Its basically no risk since all you gave up was a 5th round pick and likely big reward assuming you re-sign him. I think his biggest issues are disappearing during games, dropped balls, and most of all just being inconsistent. However, he has Top 15 WR talent and when he's on, Holmes is one of the best playmakers in the league.

Im still angry about this trade and if we take a WR in the 1st round I'll be even moreso

I dont think he'd be the reason the Jets have a dropoff this year, but he very well could be a key in getting to the super bowl. He was instrumental in the Steelers conference run and winning it in SB XLIII

He probably wont put up huge numbers for the Jets unless they really take the reins off Sanchez, but he was 7th in the league in receiving yards. Id say he does a few things better than "pretty well"

He looked him right in the eyes and said it to his face. He clearly isn't in it to fluff pro athletes. And his 'takes' (to me) have no interest in anything else but the topic. It's hard to find a talking head in sports that doesn't have outside interests.

I think getting McNabb was a great move for you. Still think Philly was dumb to trade him since they have a super bowl caliber team right now (I think Kolb will be solid, but I dont see him getting them a SB win in the next few years). I think the biggest questions will be what McNabb can get out of your WR corps which IMO is one of the worst in the NFL. Always thought Santana Moss was one of the msot overrated WRs in the game, and he's not getting younger. Your best bet might be alot of 2TE sets with Cooley and Fred Davis

I think all 3 RBs will probably be there still, but if Portuis is healthy he's getting the lionshare. I still cant believe Fast Willie went there because they told him he would have the opportunity to start  ;D..that backfield is more crowded than ours. If one is gone, itll probably be Johnson, but judging Portis' durability from last year, I say they keep all 3.

Being an OSU alum, I'm pretty bummed about Dez being out for a month. When I was little I was a 49ers' fan and the Cowboys always killed the Niners. When I was a little older I went to high school about 10 miles away from where Troy Aikman went to high school so that gave me another reason to hate the Cowboys, and this was really the first time I've ever had any desire to cheer for the Cowboys and now Dez gets hurt.

Not sure if theyve mentioned it out there, but there has been a lot of talk on the sports radio out here about how the Ravens at TC this year are only signing autographs for kids 6-15 years old. Seems like a pretty good idea to me.

I dont get those auto seekers either. I mean, as a kid, Id get athletes to sign paper or a baseball if I saw them, but even back then, I never paid for an autograph unless I got a certificate of authenticity with it. I dont know who would pay $$$ for the sigs these dipshits try to get and sell.

Viking training camp does autographs like... Monday from 12-2 it's runningbacks, Tuesday it's the WR's, and so on. It's nice that it's organized. But after practice they walk from the field to the fieldhouse. They have to go past fans barricaded off. The adults yelling and flipping out is entertaining though.  ;D

Nothing personal to you, TEO, but I know a lot of people from Indy and they're all like this.  They seem to hate the Colts. the Colts are a well-respected organization for what they've since landing Peyton Manning, but to hear their "fans" talk about them you'd think they root for the Lions.  The year the Colts won the Superbowl (which my team has NEVER done, btw) all my Indy friends were like "they'll prolly fuck it up" when they got to the SB and after they won were like "'bout time!"  I'm sorry but where I come from that's called being a bad fan and by that definition Indy has the worst fans in the country, imo.

Again, nothing personal TEO, just a different culture I guess.

I think they look better on paper this year but I don't think Lovie has the Testicular fortitude to make them a winner.  He is just to laid back. We need someone like Ditka that can motivate these guys.  We do a poll at work that we guess there wins and loses and I got them at 6 and 10.  I really hope I'm wrong.  It seems that the other teams in our division got better then we did in the off season.  Cutler needs to win me over.  The positive I take away from yesterdays game was that Cutler only threw 1 int.

Completely agree and would add that I feel it already has been for at least a few years.  

I am not A Ravens fan but I will say that the two and sometimes three Steelers games a year are the biggest events in Baltimore and th outcomes strongly affects the mood of the city.  When you consider the hard hitting blue collar makeups of both cities and teams and more importantly the fact that both franchises have been consistently successful over the past ten years give or take a year, it is the perfe@ct formula for a vicious rivalry.  Geographic proximity helps too.

Plus, the biggest reason the Vikings have struggled is because of no legit receiving options with Harvin best served in the slot and being headachy, and a lack of a deep threat.

Pretty sure Bradshaw isn't concerned about being forgotten in Pittsburgh. Anyone who was around during the Steel Curtain years can tell you that. Id say it was like 80-85% of people who wanted him gone in the spring. Pretty sure Bradshaw isn't concerned about being forgotten in Pittsburgh. Anyone who was around during the Steel Curtain years can tell you that. He's probably like a lot of other's who feel Roethliesberger is a low-life bum, who got his SB rings from the fact Tom Brady couldn't deliver in 2005 (sports hernia for last 6 games of the season) and in 2008 (out for entire year). Agreed, and Im not saying those 3 QBs would become average QBs behind our line, theyre good QBs, but I think they also play 13 game (or less) seasons more often than not. Yes, the ability to read defenses and make quick plays would help, but if Bruce Arians was their OC, dont count on it!!

All 3 of those guys have played behind talented pass blocking OLs their entire career, Ben hasnt since his first year or two. And above all else, all 3 of those guys have had great continuity on the OL. Right now we have only 2/5 of the guys that started for our OL just last year. Our line gets beat not from teams blitzing it, but from mediocrity, and Ben not having time to find a receiver 50% of the time because there are still 7 guys in coverage

I disagree about the pass blocking OLine argument.  Brady and Manning regularly operated behind lines made of low round to undrafted picks.  They weren't coached up beyond their physical abilities.  The QB's made them better than their physical abilities allowed.  There is a reason that O linemen from Indy and NE didn't leave for the most part over the past decade for big free agent contracts.  Teams didn't think they were all that good.

I'm not taking anything away from Ben but I disagree if you somehow think his lines are that inferior to what Manning and Brady have had over the years.

Yeah, yeah.  It very well may define their season, but I think the Browns are better than a lot of people may be giving them credit for.  I mean, they very well could have won their first 3 games had they figured out how to finish instead of blowing 3 straight 4th quarter leads.

Really, last week is about the only game they didn't have a chance at winning and when you consider Colt McCoy was making his first start, and then factor in that his top 2 receivers were lost in a matter of minutes, I think it's quite understandable losing that game.

I will say, I am liking a lot what I'm seeing from McCoy.  What a tough way to start your career with games @ Pittsburgh and @ NO!  And, McCoy really did play well in that loss to the Steelers.  And then he followed that up with another solid performance on the road and this time was rewarded with a win today over the defending Super Bowl champs.

BTW, classy NO fans booing your team today.  Good grief, how quickly they turn?!  Your team just won the freaking Super Bowl Saints Fan!  Maybe they should start showing up to the games with paper bags on their heads again...  ::)   ;D

Kenny Britt was my favorite receiver coming out of the draft two years ago, ahead of Crabtree, Maclin and Nix and whoever else.  That dude is big, has decent speed, great hands, body control and runs good routes.  He plays on any pass happy team instead of the Titans and he is diesel.  Already a better receiver than Moss.

DYK, Hillis was in the same backfield at Arkansas featuring Darren McFadden and Felix Jones.  Those 2 were both first round draft picks while Hillis was drafted in the 7th round.  And all Hillis has done for the Browns is outgain DMC and Jones COMBINED and he also scored 7 td's alone while DMC and Jones have combined for just 4 td's this season.  Hillis is a pretty cool story!  8-)

Despite injuries that have you starting 5 rookies at the moment, still winning games.  Ford definitely flashed some skillz, beating Brandon Flowers consistently yesterday should not be understated. Hopefully the Raiders see what I saw and have him start over busty DHB and always injured Schilens. Murphy, Ford, and ZMiller isnt too shabby. Chiefs look like they turned it around as well and I think I heard yesterday was the first sellout in a few years?? Silver & Black are back.

Lions are only 2-6, but they had a shot at winning or taking every game into OT except 1. They look like theyre set at their offensive skill positions, but Stafford might not end up being the answer if he can't stay healthy. He's looked promising when healthy, but that shoulder sounds like surgery in the offseason. Desperately need a LT. Their front 4 is stout and Suh looks like a Top 10 DLman already. Back 7 is getting helped out by how good the DL is, and I think thatll be their focus the next few drafts, especially LB after dumbfoundedly trading Ernie Sims.

However, I really don't think someone like Colt McCoy gets that call in the exact same circumstances. Protecting the QB is 1 thing, but protecting the NFL "brand" QB's is another and when someone like Manning gets injured, then the whole league suffers.

And remember Beer, it isn't just 15 yards but it is also an automatic 1st down.  On that play, if I'm not mistaken, the Colts had 3rd or 4th and more than 15 and it resulted in an automatic 1st.

First you can thank Chancey Stuckey for forgetting to hold onto the football after making a first down catch that had the Browns in fg range.  And if that gift wasn't enough, you can thank Joe Haden for not just knocking that damn ball down at the freaking 3 yardline and then thank the Brown's OC for some horrible playcalling deep in their own end that allowed your Jets to escape (and escape is putting it mildly) with a win...  ::)

All in all, I can't be too upset with the Browns.  Although that might change if Mangini and company haven't figured out that McCoy IS the starting QB of this football team!  If McCoy didn't EARN that job today leading a game tying drive with less than 2 minutes in the game against a damn good Jets defesne, I don't know what more they think this kid has to do???

The Browns may be only 3-6, but they have been in every game so fare this season and they are definitely showing me there is reason to hope for the future.  It would have been nice to get this win to get to 4-5 with two very winnable games over the next two weeks but oh well.  My hope now is that this team continues to build momentum by beating the Jags and the Panthers (2 teams the Browns should beat) over the next 2 weeks!

Well, as a Pats fan, I can't help but bask in the glory of two decisive wins against teams with great defenses on paper.  I'm curious about the reference to the Pats as "cheaters".  Hasn't it already been established that they were busted and paid the price for inappropriate video recording of other teams (Jets) a few years back, a practice most acknowledge happens across the league but for which the Pats got caught?  Is anyone suggesting the current Patriots team is carrying the best record, the first clinched playoff berth, and is a Super Bowl favorite because they're cheaters?  I kinda think it has something to do with a talented QB, smart roster building and draft selections with trades and long-range planning, an impressive performance by rookies and young cast-offs (Danny Woodhead, for example), and red zone production second to none.  I understand the frustration of those fans of teams who have lost to New England, but hasn't the "cheaters" reference lost relevance?  What are the Pats doing (or not doing) that should take away from their current success?

The Falcons ended the regular season at 13-3 and your Saints at 11-5. If they would have won that one game you mentioned, they would've been 12-4 and they still would've been a wild card with the Falcons winning the division.

As far as the AFC goes, my feelings on the Jets are the same as Tracy posted earlier.  I really can't stand Rex Ryan and his ego and because of this, I really can't stand the Jets either.  I can't stand the Stillers because I'm from Ohio and can't stand anything about Pittspuke.  So, I can't see any outcome that would make me happy coming out of the AFC Championship.

What issues did you have with the game?? We made a hell of a comeback in the 2nd half. Forced TO's and made Flacco look bad as usual, sacked him 5 times. Roethlisberger made a ton of clutch throws. We held Flacco to 125 yards passing and a 61.1 passer rating, Rice to 64 total yards and under 3 YPC. I didnt expect us to win on a TD that was set up by a 60yd pass on 3 & 19, but the way the game was going I thought we deserved to win and expected us to.

My boy Tone had easily the play of the game with that TD catch IMO, and great drive by the Jets to get a TD after NE came within 3. Ahh, watching Brady and Belicheck lose is almost better than seeing the Steelers win  :bath:

I 100% agree with you Tracy. What a joke. For real. They didn't even make it to the Superbowl and they're acting like they won it. Sure the Pats were the favorites, but still, show some class. I think that's part of my concern, too. That people will think it "worked"; not that the Jets are returning to the title game (returning!) b/c they're a great football team, it's b/c all the jibbering "worked". When I think of a "dirty" player, I think of someone who purposefully tries to injure someone...None of those plays in that clip strike me as dirty. Ward has had a few helmet to helmet hits over the years that I might call dirty, but what DB or LB hasnt?? Overall I dont think he's a dirty player. If this were hockey, yeah Id call those hits dirty, but this is football - they have more protection, and there's a reason they get right up from all those hits in that clip and 95% of the hits in Ward's career. Its because they arent that big of a deal. More than anything, I think the hits just get under the skin of every other team in the NFL (which is what he wants), and there's not really any other way to describe him but dirty. To make another analogy to hockey, he's more of an "agitator" than a "goon".

In that article I linked, even Rex Ryan said he respects Ward and thinks he justs finishes plays and goes til the whistle.

I'm on the side that thinks Cutler didn't do anything wrong. Yes, even before I knew the results of his MRI. The guy gets ripped on all the time and gets sacked the most. I doubt that he really didn't want to play in the biggest game of his career. He's not a rah rah kind of guy, and 5 seconds that Fox was showing doesn't show a lot. He was told not to play, but he still was on the sidelines with his team. He could have sat in the locker room, made it look worse than what it was, and stayed warm, but he stayed by his team like a captain going down with his ship.

Im biased, but I think Clay Matthews season was a little overrated as he became a media darling thanks to good play, but also family legacy and underdog storyline coming out of highschool. Tamba Hali and Cameron Wake both had very similar seasons (within 8 and 3 tackles, respectively, of Clay) and both actually had more sacks and FFumbles. Obviously Matthews gets an edge over them for being on a Top 5 D, but I dont think you'd guess those 2 guys had arguably better individual seasons than Matthews.

I think James Harrison had a better season than Matthews, and its not really close. Matthews did have 3 more sacks than Silverback, but 6 were in the first 2 games. Silverback had more PD's, INTs, FF's(4 more, 6 total which was #2 in NFL), and FR. What really makes Harrison's season better though (and even better than Troy Id argue) is he had 100 tackles (70 solo), a whole 40 tackles more than Matthews. Whats even crazier is that Harrison is the only player with over 80 tackles who had more than 6 sacks  :o

I was probably 70 yards from where Keisel was but he stood out like a sore thumb because he was like 4 inches taller than everyone else...Didnt ralize Roeth was there. Off topic, that was a good show, but hands down the worst Ben Harper show Ive seen of the 7 times Ive seen him, mostly thanks to the setlist being Lifeline-centric.

It's to the point where I turn on the game at Kickoff, turn it off during haftime and turn it off when it's over. I would have enjoyed this game a lot more without all the hype and now I am bombarded with all the silly Favre/Rogers arguments. It is possible that the NFL is in the prcoess of swallowing itself.

And the NFL is controlling the broadcasts. I would love to see the comparison between close-up shots of Matthews and Harrison. Actually, I cannot recall one close up of Harrison.
