Oh and in addition i'd like to say that not all SEC fans are pr*cks just most of the ones I've spoken to. When it comes down to it there will be 3 SEC vs. Big Ten games again this bowl season and i'm hoping for a sweep...don't know if it will happen seeing as it's basically 3 home games for the SEC but i won't use that excuse....GO BLUE GO BUCKS GO BADGERS!

All of this blah, blah, blah, about SEC does not change a thing about how their games are the most exciting to watch usually.

yeah, I'm just about done with this conversation but I just wanted to point out that the university I went to for undergrad and graduate studies doesn't have a football team, so using Tracy's logic, I'm not allowed to root for anybody.

And, no, I don't root for all the Big Ten teams blindly. As the saying goes, "My two favorite teams are Ohio State and whoever plays Michigan".  But I guess that's just how it is when your team is involved in a REAL rivalry.

oh, and ewok, stating that THE Ohio State Buckeyes are #1 IS objective because it is a FACT supported by data as supposed to an OPINION which just comes out of your ass.

(and I take it you're a Michigan student/grad?)

No but i was born in Michigan and raised a Michigan fan...the way i see it you don't choose your team your team chooses you. As for why i don't like the SEC, there are a number of reasons.

What is it with the bandwagon Big 10 fans here? Bam, you will never feel the pain of a Michigan loss like a true Wolverine alum or student. Period. And your joy for a Michigan win will never compare to alums or students either. What I see you doing here (along with that Ohio State bandwagon fan) is trying to get in on emotion, trash talking, bragging, etc...that you actually don't have a stake in, other than an outside rooting interest.

You're a casual Michigan fan at best, and to say anything about bleeding the Maize n' Blue is an insult to those who spent years (or are spending years) on the campus.

Your hate of the SEC is jealousy (that's an easy one).    ;)

Wagons Ho!

This may be my final post on this subject b/c I found an Ohio State fan who explains it better than me. Check out the 40 second mark of this YouTube clip when a true Ohio State fan asks "another Ohio State fan" if he went to Ohio State. Nothing speaks my point greater than this clip, and it comes straight from The Buckeye Nation:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrekA-H4-XQ&feature=related

amd, explain your bandwagon ass to that guy. Too easy. Your "own" Buckeye Nation slams you, silly! I keep playing it over and over and it just gets funnier and funnier.

Of course you're almost done with this conversation; if I were you, I'd have been done with it a while back. If you're going to talk trash, you need to come from a place of authenticity, not some "love" of a university you didn't attend. My smack is strong!

So your college didn't have football? Life isn't fair. Some people are lactose intolerant, they probably know how you feel. Saying, "My two favorite teams are Ohio State and whoever plays Michigan" is just something you heard that you think sounds cool that a bunch of Ohio State fans (who went to school at Ohio State) made up. You might as well be saying, "Chocolate genie cactus rump greenhouse tool farm burp style" as far as I am concerned.

Maybe next year you and Bam can have a faux bet about your faux rivalry and you can show some faux emotions about your faux college years at Ohio St and Michigan.  ;D  I am sure it will be very similiar to what will really be going on in Ann Arbor next year...

And my blind love of the SEC is a southern thing, you wouldn't understand. It's a football game, Eunice. A GAME.

Some idiots forget that from time to time, to the point where they'll assault someone on national TV (nothing says misdirected anger more than a 65 year old man punching a college student).

I must say, I have to disagree a little bit about not being able to be "invested" in a school that you didn't attend.  My dad is a St. Louis University graduate.  He has had season tickets to Billiken basketball games my entire life.  When I was a kid it was our thing.  We went to all of the games together.   It's what started my love of sports even.   Well, I ended up going to MU and have since grown a stronger connection to MU sports, but I still feel extremely strongly about SLU Basketball and always will.   Just my two cents.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

sure, I can totally get behind that. I am guessing the bandwagon fans I am addressing don't have anything close to a connection like that to their favorite (and usually Top 10) teams. I can see why you're a passionate Bilikens fan.

But you have to admit, if the Bilikens make it to the Final 4 this year, Biliken fans will come out of the woodwork, making all sorts of claims of allegience (like, I was born in Missouri).

I don't know how to 'prove' to you i'm a Michigan fan and frankly i don't give a sh*t. I'm from Michigan, my grandfather went to Michigan, my parents lived in Michigan their whole lives and raised me a Michigan fan. What else can i say...i'm not too bothered by the fact that someone on message board doesn't think i'm a good fan...ok...well my dad can beat up your dad  ;)

And to call me a bandwagon fan for MICHIGAN? are you f*cking serious? Are you talking about the Michigan that went 8-4 this season, lost to App St. and had a coach who's trying to live in the 70's still? Gimme a break. Michigan is not a glamorous school to support...if i wanted glamor i'd support USC or Florida...but i don't like supporting teams who have salaries for their players....

actually, could you help me arrange that?

(yo, don't lose sight of the FACT that we're all talking smack here, OK? If I see you at a Jacket show, the first round is on me).

Now, where was I? Oh yeah,

Fuck a bunch of Big 10 football!

I say we get a small wager, SEC vs Big 10. Whoever wins the bowls, the other's have to sport the winners conference mascot (of choice) on their avatar for the entire month of January. Who's in?

I haven't lost sight of anything...i'll take your wager. If the big 10 has a losing record against the 3 SEC teams they play i'll take on the Gators avatar...you have to take Meeeechigans...and so it begins....

Now a new point...if college football introduced a playoff system would we lose all of this? i dunno but the fact that there never is a real National Champion makes the banter this much more fun.

Tracy, that went a step beyond "smack" and straight into a woodshed beating.

Speakings of lineage and all...

Don't tell anyone, but my uncle played football at Auburn. He was my least favorite uncle, but probably for more reasons than that.

That was a fact, dude. My uncle was an Auburn football player.

It had nothing to do with what you guys were talking about, so why quote that and lump me in with Tracy?

Proud graduate of The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss).

we don't get to cheer as much these days since Eli left (and 1961), but hopefully with Houston Nutt coming in, he'll be able to restore the magic (you know, the magic of 7-4?)

Hotty Toddy!
