we will be heading down hopefully on the early side and be able to do some serious tailgating :) that lot was great last year, and we hung there for hours, and met so many of the forum folks for the first time there! so great!
we can't remember if we stayed in a hilton? or hyatt? it was over on the water....who remembers??? the bar was closed when we got back, but we had some domino's delivered and ate it by the riverwalk with fiddle, liz, lil sis, mahgeetah, sean riley....so great!
oh and jd bartender put on a killer tailgate with his white tent, bbq grill, and whole party set up!
we are psyched!!

I'll be coming back from Chicago/Lollapalooza the beginning of that week, then have Boston on Sunday. Its a hell of a drive to Maryland and flights are $$$. Too bad, its gonna be like Red Rocks East! The pit here is amazing. The stage is about chest high (no barrier between crowd and stage), perfect height to place your beer or hot dog.

My parents live in MD and I'm due to a visit home to see them - been dragging my feet on scheduling it. Pretty much the ONLY days I couldn't do this this summer are Aug 11 and 12 due to a once-a-year work conflict.
This has me really bummed as Merriweather last year was fantastic - and now knowing so many of you from MD and NYC would make the pit even crazier. But there's zero hope. I guess I know how the T5 thread avoiders felt last year. Have a blast, but I'm not going to read any more about this show.

Probably not much help but it's a pretty big pit though I'm not sure I could peg a number. All I know is everyone who wanted pit tix during the general sale got 'em last year no problem.

I'm at the Sheraton as is headhunter and a few others. I got the room for $112.00 inc tax AAA rate.
I stayed there last year too. Nice hotel and walking distance to MPP.
I stayed in the Springhill Suites last year and it was an awesome and cheap hotel. Sheraton this year though because you can walk to MPP.

I stayed in the Springhill Suites last year and it was an awesome and cheap hotel. Sheraton this year though because you can walk to MPP.
Ill have to look into that hotel. thanks. I've never been there so I wasn't sure if there was a way to walk from hotel to venue.

Springhill is not walking distance (about 4 miles) the Sheraton is about 0.8 miles (10-15 minute walk away. If I'm not mistaken the Sheraton is the only one that is really in walking distance the others are over a mile.

it was the sheraton and i highly recommend it. perfect for a merriweather show. We honestly must have said "where's alady?" 100 times, right?
All of this Merriweather love is making me jealous (though I do have GA tix in hand for Santa Barbara Bowl July 2). I am out west now, but was busted at Merriweather in '89 for buying drinks with fake id (holy shit, I'm growin' old...but not in my mind ;)). Enjoy what will be a magical show.

I'm all over the presale page, the Merriweather page, the MMJ tour page.... do they release price info. before the presale starts?? Feel like I've got my shades on at night here 8)
Well I did manage to find the price for Pitt tickets, at $37 in advance (so roughly close to $50 when the taxman visits...) I think I'll just assume about the same for MPP... this show has more of a draw for me (vs. Columbus) as more friends from T5 will be here!! And it's really only about an hour further than the trip to Columbus... Hey ImTheDude, what say you of carpooling and possibly splitting the lodging? Have you guys made any plans yet for the show? Yup. My understanding was always two per transaction so I bought 3 pairs on Tuesday. I did read somewhere on this board that someone bought 4 in one transaction however. I could be mistaken.

OK so I just hit up the presale link to double check for roll call. There were GA pit tix available and I was able to get 4 at the same time and I'm gonna guess you could have even gotten more than 4 at a time.

And JY....not to make light of your uncle's experience, but that was our escape plan for the Rapture while at Hangout. Our condo was on the 11th floor and we had a floatie on the balcony. If a tsunami came, we were going to ride that sucker inland to safety...

ABSOLUTELY! They wouldn't open the doors to the public at the same time as the sound check. It will probably be a 1/2 hour of a sound check and then doors open at 6:00. Even if there are a ton of people in the pit for this, it's still totally worth it.

are you talking about the show or this soundcheck? if they are show tix, only the roll call member would have to be there...that wouldn't make sense ? (or that's the worst system imaginable)
Hey guys. When I followed the ticket link, it said roll call members will be allowed two packages per transaction so it is the same as the ticketing policy. Looks like all 6 of us can get soundcheck packages.

I think I have no choice but to try and get the early admission tix for the sound check. You get a signed poster, easy access to the sound check and maybe get to stay in for easy rail position for the ga pit before the show. All for $25 - sounds like a bargain to me.
We're going for it too. That would be great if we could stay in there for the rest of the show.

Yeah, this is what I wanna know as well. I would assume if you can get 2 packages, only 1 has to be a Roll Call member. But, it would be nice to know before tomorrow. If its only members, also count me out.
I mentioned it earlier in this thread and in the Alpharetta thread but the way I read it, you're all good. I'll find out tomorrow but I think I'll be able to get a sound check ticket for each roll call ticket that I purchased.
i should probably write on the kabang~maine thread too. i gave up my winnings to the kanbang festival. it's around a 13 hour drive from merriweather and i am catching a ride down there. The only way it would have been possible is if i could have caught a ride with the band (dreaming). i received a second email today from the festival, they were waiting for my reply, and i thought it was best to toss the chance back in for some folks who can make it. i asked if it was possibly to transfer them to another board member but it isn't. oh well, win some lose some....

I say good for them. A lot of people rely on MMJ (and other artists) for their employment, so I'm a fan of bands making money any reasonable way they can now.

I totally agree - they deserve to make money in any "reasonable" way (I like that word there) and absolutely should. I guess I was just more surprised to see them doing so on Gilt - a website known for trendy fashion and designer (albeit discounted) merchandise.
I mean, they were charging roll callers $25 a pop - which when added to the ticket price exceeds the amount offered by Gilt. So they would have made more money and made the day's of more of their most loyal fans had they reserved more tickets for the roll call presale (unless I'm overlooking something).

I tried at work to snag a pair... unfortunately I hesitated one second too long. While it's nice to see the band do something even more exclusive for their fanclub, just wish there were more allocated to the club members and less to outside sources.
Congrats to those who didn't hesitate! I hope it makes the live experience that much better for all of you.

I really wish they added more for the pre sale. I know they are trying to make people happy by adding more for sale but why make it WITH a ticket? Wouldn't Roll Call know a ton of people are already going and have bought tickets?

Okay here's the thing about ^that. I feel like a total a$$hole because somehow I ended up getting a ticket for this, but I feel like it's all a joke. I have a confirmation number, but have not yet received a confirmation email or any follow up. I emailed Roll Call on Friday, but have not received a response. I do have a $25 charge on my credit card...so what's going on? I logged in to Roll Call, but don't see a spot that shows any sort of account activity.

It took me a week to hear from Roll Call. I emailed twice with my confirmation number, because I was in the same boat -- I never received a confirmation email. I finally got it yesterday.
The email says 5:30, but a friend who also has tickets said to be at will call at 4:00. If you don't have a confirmation email, bring any supporting information you have to show you bought tickets.

yes, and i'm assuming they are starting the show a bit earlier this year to make up for the sound ordinance. that could be the reason for the gates opening so early. last year they started at 9. maybe 8-8:30 this year?
last year I was so worked up about the sound ordinance and start/end times that I snapped off my first and only grumpy email to the mods, basically grumbling about why can't the band move up the start time to get the opener on and MMJ on earlier.
Turns out the show is one of my MMJ highlights and the shorter set wasn't even noticed. Fond fond memories! My lesson from that incident is don't sweat the small stuff.

last year we were in the pav as well (clautrophobic, remember) but i seem to remember ALady, Sass, Ky, and Kenny leaving the tailgate to get online much earlier than I wanted them to :( This year, we will just bring the tailgate to the line!
I'll be straggling in later I'm sure. Some of my crew won't make it to the lost til close to 6 I think but we'll be there by 3-3:30. I'll have some Heavy Seas Loose Cannon for those so inclined to trade though I'll be mostly sticking to my vodka slushies :beer:

speaking of the pit, I was only in the pav for last years show. how early do you have to get in line to get a decent spot? Or were there even that many people in line last year? Im obviously not trying for rail or anything, but dont want to be in the back either.

last year the opener was at 8 and MMJ was 9. 11 pm curfew.
We left JD Bartender's tailgate around 6:45 and got to venue at 7. Doors had opened at 6:30 and our thinking was to let the line work itself out. It worked well as we walked right in and into the pit, which was about 3 deep at that point. I was pleased as punch that we hadn't left any earlier, and in fact my friend Sean pointed out at 7:30 that if we had arrived then we wouldn't have been much further back. So my observation for what its worth was that there was a hardcore faithful getting there early, than a lull for a while. By the time BHJB came on at 8, it was crowded... and a final beer run at 8:30 proved very difficult.

Since I couldn't strong arm any of my friends into going to the show... can't teach taste... I'll be driving down solo from the Harrisburg, PA area. If anyone wants to carpool let me know. I took a half a day and can leave anytime after 12:30 and 2:30 at the latest.

The lots at MPP opened at 3:30p for Phish this summer. I remember last year for the MMJ show just cruising on in around 330 or so as well. I think it will be around that time as well, don't quote me though.
You can always just park in the mall. It is adjacent to the venue.

anyone else attend the soundcheck? it was kinda weird. one side of merriweather was closed for entrance so we had to walk all the way around to the other side of the venue. no signage anywhere, kinda confusing.
finally made it to the right spot and a radio contest of about 40 people gained entrance BEFORE the roll call people. The people who purchased the soundcheck package from GILT sucked in my experience, and generally rude to staff and just really distracting... overall, whole process was a little sloppy....the roll call/gilt people got let in and MMJ played 3 songs off the new album, Jim had some funny banter and then passed around a golden bear for people to touch. Then when we walked out staff gave out signed promo posters. The end. Kind of a neat experience but not sure I would shell out the 25 bucks again. Show was awesome though.

Great, great, great show. Horrible crowd where I stood, though. Had three drinks spilled on me (by the same dude thankyouverymuch), people making out, drunks, shoving....awful and disappointing in that regard. But I think it was spotty, because other people did not have the same experience. This really only escalated right before the encore, so most of the show was incredible.
I'll say it again. This is the best live band in the world. Carl was EATING it up. We cheered and screamed and reached for him and a few times he almost cracked a smile, but held it back. (Not sure why, Carl? Let it go!!! ;D)
Great to see woody, ms. y (again), scotty, and all the usual crowd of course.
I also went to the soundcheck and I am not sure if I would pay the money for it again...the signed poster was worth it as was Jim passing around the golden bear for everyone to touch. (According to him, the price of gold dipped, so this would help us all...) ahahaha. There was also a little bit of banter between him and Carl. The guys were really relaxed and Outta My System (least favorite song in the new album) sounded fantastic. Jim stomped and jerked his head to the beat, it was fantastic. More than half the people there were radio station winners and did NOT look like Jacket fans, but people who just won tickets and were probably leaving right after. It's a shame because more Roll Call folks should have had this. They played Slow Slow Tune, Outta My System and Freak Out. I think it was Freak Out, my mind is going blank.
Amazing, amaaaaazing to hear I Will Sing You Songs. Sigh.

The drunkness around us really took away from the show. It was sweaty and disgusting!!! There needs to be a pig pen for those who choose to experience the jacket in such a glutinous way! Didn't want to hang out after, was so grossed out!

Mahgeetah, PWW and a surprising Evil Urges were my highlights while IWSYS to close the set was sick! That made the show for me. I actually thought the encore could have been much better.
Like I was repeating over and over after the show, the assclown next to us that was fighting with everyone got hauled out by security after the show. It was great to see security actually get the right guy and also execute an excellent choke hold on his pathetic ass. I got his number later and we went to lift weights together.
It was great to see all the familiar faces. We really had a great time at the tailgate. Peafunk and his wife are such amazing people! Also awesome to meet manonthemoon and his wonderful wife. Good times for sure
How loud was highly suspicious? My ears are still ringing from it. I need to hear lay low in the worst way. As always don and mag were highlights for me. Thought moving away kinda killed the momentum and was a bad choice where they played it. Carl really jammed out a few times.

Mahgeetah, PWW and a surprising Evil Urges were my highlights while IWSYS to close the set was sick! That made the show for me. I actually thought the encore could have been much better.
Like I was repeating over and over after the show, the assclown next to us that was fighting with everyone got hauled out by security after the show. It was great to see security actually get the right guy and also execute an excellent choke hold on his pathetic ass. I got his number later and we went to lift weights together.
It was great to see all the familiar faces. We really had a great time at the tailgate. Peafunk and his wife are such amazing people! Also awesome to meet manonthemoon and his wonderful wife. Good times for sure

I won't be doing that tomorrow or in Philly. It was so great seeing everyone, and I got some good pics when we were waiting for the show to start and a few of the band which I will try to post later. Can't wait to rock out again tomorrow in Boston!

We were in the center of the second row of seats, and much of the first two rows were sitting down through much of the show, including Phone Went West. WTF?
Just got back. What a freaking amazing show! We had such a blast at the tailgate party & rocking the hell out in the pit. It was just awesome. I unfortunately over-imbibed a bit myself :embarassed:. I actually had to leave the pit a bit before the encore as I was seriously dehydrated & overheated. But I slammed a Gatorade & was right as rain fairly quickly. Definitely lighter beers for me at the Philly show. The combo of strong IPAs & pit heat was not the best idea.
Much love to everybody we met & hung out with. It was so great seeing Ruckus, Ky, Scotty, Trish & Bob, lil sis, YWNA, Headhunter, Eric, Jersey Dan & anyone else I forgot to mention. What a great crew! Can't wait til Philly!
Amazing show as always, despite a few drunk people straight out of a Dave Chappelle skit (and an old feller seeming to collapse on end for 5 minutes straight in the middle of Dondante).
I was the guy with the beard in the black and gold Batman shirt. Awesome nite. Can't wait til Philly.
I'm running out of words to describe how much fun I've been having at MMJ shows.
The forum folks hanging out at the pre-show tailgate (big shout out to Trish & Bob for the tent) were an awesome gang to be with, way too many to name but thanks for the beers and good times.
The hangout by the rail pre-show was as always a wonderful and memorable time with big thanks to ynwa, lil sis and bluesky for saving that great spot on the rail for me and to deathstick for the poster So wonderful to see many of the JFW crew again and all you great peeps that I hadn't seen since T5 (Ruckus, you look great w short hair! and Woody, what a great treat to see you first right when we checked in at the Sheraton). It's become a great combination of seeing the greatest live band there is with the greatest fans and some of the nicest folks we've ever met. Oldtimers and newbies alike, thanks for sharing all the great vibes and smiles.
The show is always special and being right in front of carl on the rail was awesome. This band is so tight that you never get tired of hearing songs you've heard many times before. Nothing get's old and PWW and IWSYS were real highlights for me.
Eric, thanks for taking care of Beth for me during the show and I'll get the sleeping bag from you another time (what's that all about the people are asking? :o )
Will post some really nice shots later of many of you great forum peeps. Beth and I agreed on the ride home today that there is no better way to spend a day/night than at an MMJ show. Also, we would rather attend any MMJ show with all you crazy, beautiful. enthusiastic people than with other friends who we've known for 10, 20 years or more. Being with all of you guys is so much of what makes the show so special for us. Like the band, you guys never disappoint.

Everyone in our crew was awesome as always...it's those who are new to these shows who forget the pit ettiquette. And the drunkenness is fun...hell I only remember snippets of T5 night three so I shouldn't point fingers! The violent drunk dude who knocked into people....not cool. You handled it well Ghosts. You telling that girl to never come back to an MMJ show was hysterical.
As for Ruckus's frequent hugs... My only complaint is they weren't touchy-feely enough for my standards. Hee hee. ;)

great show. those of you in the pit that got beer spilled on you, that sucks and i would be pissed too, but what do you expect from a furious jacket show, in the summer, in the pit, on a friday? just saying.

Not even sure what to say, any attempt to describe it will come off cheesy and overwrought. Simply put an incredible day with incredible people in front of an incredible band. As always I was amazed at the generosity and good will that just oozes out of this board. If doctors could bottle the good vibes from one of these lot get-togethers Im pretty sure they could cure depression. It was great to see everyone and I started looking forward to Philly before my ears stop ringing. Also wanted to tip my hat to ImtheDude, who somehow got in after sound check at 4:30 and let me tagalong with his crew. :thumbsup:
As for the show, bummer to hear about the fight. Center rail was great. An older guy (Im talking mid 60s) passed out and had to be carried out, not sure what happened. Couple drunks but nothing obnoxious. I love the new album and it plays great live, I can see several songs becoming staples. Victory Dance is a great opener, love the sax on First Light, ans Slow Slow Tune puts the same swoon on the crowd as Steam Engine. That said, the highlights for me was with they did with some of the standards. Awesome that there was a taper, because that had to be one of the sickest Dondante's Ive ever heard. 18 beastly minutes that started with a kickass jam before they even got into the actual song. Felt like the kind of thing they pull out of their hat for a New Years show. They played different 2 different versions over the last 2 shows, love that they never let stuff get stale. Wish I could make it to Boston but unfortunately I have to get back to real life for a minute. On the bright side, only 9 days to the Mann.

I was down in the pit as well and i thought the energy of the crowd was fun. Its always good to have the crowd effect the bands playing, and I think Jim was loving all the energy, he was hopping around all over the place. The new songs were great live. Its always a party seeing this band live so you could expect some people getting a little tipsy, the band is just so fun to see live. I think the band really dug it, if i recall even Patrick said a thank you or someting at te end of the show.
oh man.........so great to meet so many new faces, and so great to see so many familiar ones! bob and i truly treasure the time that we get to spend with all of you, and really enjoyed the parking lot tailgate --- me, perhaps a little too much! i was in good shape, and all of a sudden just crossed that line.....musta been the jello shots with the alcohol infused whipped cream. oy! anyhow.....to those who i may have bumped into, pushed up on, or otherwise generally invaded personal space...many apologies :) in particular to ms y and her richmond buddy, who i KNOW i thrashed into on a number of occasions.
and the dude with the tie dye totally freaked me out.....man, that was so scary. ghosts impressed the hell out of me with his level headed intervention! i'm glad that no one got hurt, that would have been just plain sad.
such a thrill to hear IWSYS! can't wait to check out the recording!! see you kids in philly!
I was close enough to the jackassery stage right to see that some people (our tie-dyed "friend") should just stay in the fucking parking lot, or even better, in the car with the windows rolled up. A lot of the people I've met from this board are amazing, kind people but a good part of that crowd just couldn't have given a shit to be there last night. Why ruin what was an otherwise amazing set and ruin other people's good time (people who travel and meet up because of a genuine love of this band and the relationships we've made because of them) because you don't have respect for other people and think it's ok to act like a douchebag. I'm sorry that you guys stage right had to deal with that stuff and I really hope this doesn't turn into a trend for this band.
I'll get off my soapbox now and just say that Dondante was phenomenal, and Phone and IWSYS were fantastic (even with the tone-deaf girls singing behind me).
Thanks again to Bob and Trish and the rest of "the crew"...you really make these shows a great experience and the band makes it that much better.

Just got home here myself!!! What an amazing few Jacket-filled days.......
Pittsburgh was amazing, and everything just flowed right into Merriweather (in the merry weatherrrrr :-X) I just remember resting my head in the back of the car while we drove to MD and watching the most amazing white fluffy clouds building and sweeping by while we played It Still Moves........ and the day of the MPP show was just awesome... friendly people who work there.... getting to see everyone in the lot for a time (before we headed down for the line stand-off!) and being front center a tremendous experience!! Our neighbors in the center weren't nearly like the ones to the left of the stage, I'm sorry to hear how that went down! Full moon bringin out the crazies......
Just so good to see everyone!! Jeff it was so neat when the elevator doors popped open and all I see is a blue Roll Call shirt, and I take a step back and see that it's you and Beth!!! That was a great way to start off my sojourn to the show!! And it's always a treat talking with ya about Iron & Wine!!!

This was one of the best concert trips we've had. The weather was prefect, and the location was awesome. We had so much fun. I'm so glad we got their at 1:30 to get our spots in line and it paid off. The venue was so relaxed which is totally different from the venues around Pittsburgh. I feel bad for Scott getting some trouble in the front there. I don't no why people have to push their way up front after everyone earned their spots, get to the venue early and don't show up 5 minutes before the band comes on.
It was good seeing everyone from the T5 run. There's a lot of super cool people on thie forum. Good to meet you headhunter, j_rud and You Are_GivenToFly and lil sis too!.The band was killin it all f'n night. I can't believe we got IWSYS and PWW that night...great jams.

Great videos Rob! I wish I could have been there, but work beckoned and I had to stay.
I haven't seen the guys since the E-Factory show in Philly quite a few years ago, too long ago... so all I can say is "WOW!"... Not only a perfect day for a tailgate, but a beautiful night for a concert. I was hoping to stop by the fanclub tailgate but I ended up meeting some cool people that I parked next to. The sixer of Troegs Sunshine Pils went perfect with the pre-game, enough to chill out and relax. I couldn't have asked for better seats, second row in the reserved seats on Jim's side. Since I wasn't able to sell my extra I enjoyed the extra space it provided, was able to dance around without bothering others much!!
Just like everyone else I was pleasantly surprised with hearing Phone Went West and I Will Sing You Songs. The solo on Mahgeetah was bad ass with the low end gutteral sound, let alone the closing jam. Loved Dondante, easily one of their most epic songs to date, great tribute to their friend. Taped some of Dondate, but my memory card filled up and I missed the last 4 minutes, first time trying the video portion of the camera, it did well, especially with the sound, but I need more memory and a steadier hand! :'( I didn't even take a seat during the encore break... I was just in so much awe I didn't even think of giving my feet a break. Only meh moment of the night for me was the Island In The Streams cover, not a big fan of AM Gold hits, not a knock on Neko Case, just the song doesn't do much for me. Highly Suspicious into One Big Holiday was a great closing to a great show.
My usual gauge for concerts is if I leave with a shit eating grin on my face wanting more... needless to say the band ended with me wanting more and grinning ear to ear. 8) So much so, I might just have to grab some tix for Philly.

I noticed that too... The only time I was able to rest my feet was prior to the band hitting the stage. Wasn't too upset the people in front of me decided to sit, completely unobstructed view throughout the show for me! Everyone enjoys concerts in their own way, I just hope they don't mind me enjoying it more than they do! (respectfully of coarse). :thumbsup:
Another amazing show by MMJ. It was tough to follow being 1st row for them at Bonnaroo and first Row at Red Rocks but I love the pit at Merriweather. I just wish there was a way to allow only true fans into the pit. I did not enjoy the beer splashing and I'm assuming that couple you guys were talking about was the one that was making out on my damn shoulder and kept pushing their way up. I don't know what they were on but it was not cool. The fight at the end was horrible also. I thought I was holding my girl to protect her and looked down to see a completely different girl. She thanked me and luckily I found my girl safe a few feet away. Not sure how stuff like that happens at a MMJ show.

Ruckus, it was good to meet you and your other half as I enjoyed the Mastodon talk of all things. We'll have to get together next time they come around for the second best live show out there or if you ever want to try Rasika in the district.
Jeff it was great seeing you and the wife again and thanks for keeping up with our poster since I didn't even know we had one at that point.
It was also great to meet all the others, scott, Jared, Trish and bob, lil sis and sis and all of the others who made the tail gate as we indulged more than I ever care to again and things are fuzzy.

And now for my comment on the idiot in the pit. For the majority of the show he was standing behind my wife and i. Before the show started his girlfriend tried to force her way in front of my wife and peafunks wife. My wife basically told her "no deals". For the first few songs this idiot was falling all over the place. Dont get me wrong i know how it is in a pit. I am fine with getting bumped into a few times b/c its hard to rock that hard without losing your balance. That being said he bumped into my wife 5 too many times. She said something to him; he then procedded to act like a douche bag. This is when i lost my patience with him. He tried to get in front of my wife and I. Much to my dismay, I had to regulate. I grabbed him by his shirt and "guided him" back behind us. I informed him that I had enough of the bullshit and I was asking him "nicely"; I informed him the next time i had to say something, I would be WAY less nice. His girlfriend thought i was going to kill him. She said "he man, we are all family here" I disagreed with her on that point. Next thing i know they walked all the way around us and saw him right behind Trish; who turned around and I thought was going to kill him....
Long story short when i heard he got gripped up and carted off it made my fucking day. Whew sorry for the rambling; I just really had to get that out. By the way I got a few really great pictures at the show. I will be posting them this week.

I have to say it one more time. It was awesome to meet all you guys; lets keep a good thing going and "do that thing" in Philly. Counting down the days. On a side note maybe drinking a whole ton of heavy IPA's in the blazing sun is not the best preshow base.

sorry to hear about how your time in the pit was filled with drunken a-holes and late comers who try to sneak their way up. i went through this last year's show so i opted out for a reserved seat. I heard Jim's side was a lot better and calm. i guess it's just the roll of the dice. i have to admit, even though i dealt with no drama, there is no better place to see a show than in a pit.
i enjoyed the show very much. everyone around me in my section was rocking out and singing along the whole time.
nice to finally meet you Ruckus! i'll try work on a foodie post about all the places we ate in Colorado.

Any advise for those going to the Soundcheck for the Alpharetta show?

They cleared us out, but some people got to stay, so I'm not totally sure :-\

I'm so glad you asked! I got empty bathrooms, empty lawn, empty seats, and plenty more that no one would be interested in... I've never seen Merriweather with such few people in it... eerie and awesome at the same time. This past June I waited in the bathroom line a half hour at Phish. This was a nice contrast.

I'm a bit late to this, but what can I really say? It's always a fantastic time and it's the people that make it what it is. Loved seeing my regular peeps, and it was def a treat to see Ruckus, Capt. Scotty and those that I had not seen for a while as well as meeting some new people from here as well. I was coming down from my Red Rocks high and I couldn't ask for anything more than to spend some quality time with you fine folks and rock the fuck out again. I won't get into anymore details about the douchebaggery that surrounded us, but I will say I've never experienced so many assholes at a Jacket show before. On the other hand, this was my first time on Carl's side and I loved getting a different vantage point. Might have to do that again. Maybe. :)

I cant say enough about the Jacket fans. Everyone is cool as shit. Great seeing many of you all again and meeting a few new peoples.
I still cant get past that blow up during the encore. That sucks for those of you who had to deal with that dbag the entire show. I thought he just got pissed because they didnt play Dancefloors during the encore. At least security jumped in pretty quick to haul his ass outta there. I wonder if they just kick people like that out or actually take them to jail?
very late w/ my feedback here and much of what i had in mind to say has been said already.
awesome to meet and hang out with everyone! i'm terrible with names so i won't even attempt a list... my tailgating was cut short due to some top secret info that there was a very small window of opportunity to get in early somehow. that didn't work out. BUT - we decided to start the line so we would at least have a better shot @ getting rail spots. which DID work out :)
this was my first time on carl's side & i liked it! a LOT. yes, that couple was right there, making out, basically on top of us. and some beverages did get spilled on my flops a few times. and the jackass that got hauled out towards the end - he & his lady almost got a taste of my irish temper :-X, thank goodness for security... BUT I HAD SUCH A BLAST ANYWAY!!! i can't complain about being on the rail but must admit that some of the crowd shenanigans left a bad taste in my mouth. loved the set, was soooo so happy w/ PWW and in heaven w/ IWSYS. LOVED that they played EU as well & as always - dondante :D
a few super awesome things happened:
1) tommy totally busted me pointing at him (kinda rude of me, i know) to show lil sis that he was smiling (i love catching him smile cuz he looks so serious most of the time) - and he totally CRACKED UP!!! i thought that was pretty cool.
2) jim definitely showed us some love over on carl's side. he grabbed lil sis's hand at one point, and then came back over later & tapped her hand 3 times. obviously - he was using morse code to tell her "i love you" ;)
3) i got a really great pic of jim singing right in front of me, mic in one hand... and flashing the "i love you" sign w/ the other hand. he was right there!!!! and tommy is all smiles in the background. LOVE!
4) some of us waited around in hopes of getting a setlist or drumstick etc. a roadie walked towards our section and was scanning/looking and held the setlist out to me and said "i was told to give this to you." HO-LY SHIT! i wish i'd processed quicker & asked who sent it out. but as you can tell by the pic - i was super psyched to get it (and a sweaty mess).
5) i danced so hard that my calves still hurt ;D

I haven't really looked at this forum since the Terminal 5 shows but I wish I did before this show. It seems like I was right in the middle of all you guys. This was probably the 12th time I've been on Carl's side and definitely one of the best other than those mentioned crowd members. Jim showed a ton of love over there and seems to love the fact there is no separation from the stage to the crowd. I'll have to scour your pictures to see if I can find myself or the girl I was with in the background (No, we were not the make-out bandits)

Truly appreciate that ynwa, would be soo greatful if it could happen!! I know that there are very few pit seats and know that the ones that have them are true Jacket fans and that's why i want to be in there with you fine folks, missed out on the pre-game for the MPP show. So i want to be at this show and get there early enough so we all can pre-game/tailgate if that is ok with you all? Thanks for keeping your eyes and ears peeled as far as looking for pit tickets for me!

Awesome!!! I remember my brother telling me how he liked the fact that Jim didin't sing the last tune and just let it hang for the song to carry out for just a bit longer. Glad to hear that you captured that for me to reminisce on this night as it surely was a special one! Video from right up front and i must say you did a great job at recording and filming each Carl and Jim during the right moments. Bravo :thumbsup:

No she wasn't but she did do half of "evil urges" from that night. That damn camera guy in the front area was in the way and she had a better view. I'll post that video tomorrow on my channel.

I had a question for any of you who were in the pit and waited early to get on the rail for the MMJ Merriweather show. How early did you get in line?
We've got pit tickets for Wilco there next week, and I'm thinking about trying for the rail.

Not too many of us were on line prior to the gate opening (less than 20) and all of got the rail. Wilco probably will be much more crowded is my guess. I don't think we were on line more than 30 mins prior to opening.
I am seeing wilco this thurs and friday in central park and figure to get on line by 4:30-5 for the 7:30 show.
mr. whippy: there are two entrances to MPP. on the side opposite the parking lot there were about 12 of us at doors. headhunter is right, the line will start earlier for wilco.

I don't want to make this into a Wilco discussion, but I'm a bit surprised that you both think Wilco is that much bigger than MMJ. Seems about equal to me, but I guess that could change once Wilco's new album is out.
it's not that wilco is bigger. people tend to come out a little earlier. :beer: (i've lined up for a lot of wilco shows)
